Sega “Superstars Tennis” is Not Quite Super
Nostalgia sells. That simple tenet is the reason why the Super Smash Bros. series is so successful. In trying to tap the same vein of remembered childhood glee, Sega has created Sega Superstars Tennis.
(We reviewed the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii versions of the game. Versions for PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS are also available.)
Nintendo branched out to the fighting genre when creating its masterpiece, but Sega decided to stick with what it knows. Superstars combines the intuitive gameplay engine from the company’s acclaimed Virtua Tennis series with fan-favorite characters from the company’s 25-year history.
