‘Dark Knight’ breaks opening weekend record at $158.4 mil, Joker takes over Nightly forums
UPDATE: Box Office estimates show that The Dark Knight will gross $158.4 million this weekend, breaking Spider-Man 3‘s previous record!
It started with the record shattering $18 million for midnight showings (not counting 3am and 6am, mind you), which Star Wars Episode 3 previously held with $16 million.
And now we’re getting word from Box Office Mojo that The Dark Knight has set a new opening day record of $66.4 million, destroying Spider-Man 2‘s $59 mil opening day. Which really makes you think…. that weekend record of $151 mil is well within reach. We’ll keep you up-to-date right here at Nightly!
