Enourmous Fire Engulfs Universal Studios Lot
The Backdraft scene as part of the studio tour at Universal Studios has always been a main attraction for tourists, but we’re pretty sure that this wasn’t part of it…
What you are seeing above is a significant chunk of the studios adjacent to the Universal Studios theme park and shopping center. The fire started early Sunday morning and has been said to have taken out a significant chunk of Universal property, including a few blocks of film sets and a ton of archival film. Fortunately, studio reps have reported that the film containing TV classics such as I Love Lucy has been backed up elsewhere and should remain archived. Though other sets weren’t as lucky. Both the New York set and much of the town square as seen in Back to the Future have been severely damaged. Though luckily according to Slash Film, it turns out that the Clock Tower has indeed been saved. BTTF.com has reported more in depth as to what has and hasn’t made it out of the fire, and purports that the entire Hill Valley set will indeed be rebuilt.
