Info regarding the Halo movie has been rather scarce lately. It all started coming together a few years ago with Peter Jackson, FOX and Universal attached.

They went through a couple writers, couple scripts, and even a couple short films. But the plug was pulled on that last summer and that’s the last we’ve heard… until now!

According to The Latino Review, G.I. Joe screenwriter Stuart Beattie has written a spec script for a Halo movie.

I hear Beattie is a huge Halo fan, and like most Halo fans, has been frustrated at the progress for HALO to reach the silver screen. So… Stuart took action and did something about it on his own in between writing assignments.

A spec screenplay is when you write a script on your own without being paid a dime for it in the hopes that it could sell hence “spec” or “speculative.”

Apparently the story is rather character-driven, and the big battles don’t take place until the second half of the movie in an attempt to make the script seem more financially viable. Click the link above to read more!
