Live Action ‘Ninja Turtles’ Possibly Returning
In case you haven’t noticed all of the kids coming out of Hot Topic lately, the 90’s are back in a big way. While we’re not really ready to put our Goosebumps books away and slap bracelets back on while watching Mighty Morphin Power Rangers just yet, another relic of that decade may be coming back to the screen again.
While the recent ‘TMNT’ was a grand excuse to get the cowabunga kids back into film via CGI, it would seem that the Ninja Turtles just may be returning in full live action glory relatively soon. As part of an ad for action figures from the 2007 animated movie, Playmate Toys has left the following tease:
“Following the success of the ‘TMNT’ theatrical release in 2007, Mirage licensing and Imagi studios have begun work on a new live-action TMNT film for 2010. It’s the turtles like you’ve never seen them before! Shellalicious!”
While a website for a toy company is hardly the best place for a film to be announced, the news isn’t at all shocking. The 2007 version did respectively well at the box office, even prompting studio bosses to proclaim that there eventually would be a sequel. Excited for it? Prefer the CG version?
