Marvel Announces Upcoming Films Through 2011

You’re probably aware that much like the man underneath the suit, Iron Man made bank this past weekend.  As in over $100 million.  Seemingly proud of themselves, Marvel Studios has today announced the upcoming slate of comic translations until 2011.

First, surprising no one, Iron Man will indeed see a sequel in 2010.  Tony Stark and friends should start summer early that year, as it will hit theaters on April 30th.  The Mighty Thor will appear as himself in the aptly named ‘Thor‘ shortly thereafter on June 4th.  (No casting announcement has yet been made for Thor, but if it’s Karl Urban I will pitch a hissy fit.)

The big news is concerning 2011, as it would seem that Samuel L. Jackson’s post credits cameo in Iron Man was prophetic in more sense than one.  Two in fact, as there will be two Avengers films that year.  The first, titled ‘The First Avenger: Captain America‘ will arrive on May 6th, while the more simply named ‘Avengers‘, presumably featuring a fuller roster will come sometime in July of that year.

Exhausting and somewhat surprising news to say the least.  Drop by our Iron Man thread in Movies or our Comic & Animation Board to chat it up.
