- Marvel Comics has signed a deal to turn one of its superheroes, the Black Panther, into a primetime animated series for BET, starting early next year.
- Ridley Scott will direct and produce an adaptation of Tom Epperson’s period noir novel “The Kind One” for Warner Bros. The story, set in 1930s Los Angeles, centers on an amnesiac who finds himself working for a mobster. Casey Affleck is attached to star.
- Edward Norton (star) and Louis Leterrier (director) are not thrilled with Marvel’s cut of the new Incredible Hulk film.
- “Barry Levinson’s “What Just Happened?”, a tale of an embattled Hollywood producer (Robert DeNiro), has been chosen to close this year’s Festival de Cannes, which is a bit of a post-modern twist given that the movie-within-the movie does the exact same thing.
