The Dark Knight Returns
Of course, not in the way that Frank Miller had him return, but in the way that Warner Brothers and Christopher Nolan are having him return on January 23rd.
You read that right, The Dark Knight will be re-released on January 23rd, 2009. Details haven’t yet been released concerning the number of screens that the film will be shown on, but the press release does mention that it will be shown on regular screens as well as on IMAX again. If you’re keeping count, The Dark Knight was ultimately around $70 million short of reaching Titanic as the top grossing film ever. Again, there’s no word on the number of screens or the length of the re-release. But a one billion total gross worldwide is expected, and Titanic is feasibly within reach.
