Watching The Watchmen, Circa 1970
As has been enthusiastically discussed in our forums in recent weeks, it looks as if we’ll finally be getting to see Watchmen on the promised date of March 6th of this year, despite the legal brouhaha between Fox and Warner Bros. And now that the two studios have reached an agreement that undoubtedly had bags of money passing hands, the marketing machine is starting to really crank up.
While the well received trailer that pushed the Smashing Pumpkins up the iTunes charts has been out for a good while now, we’ve not really had any type of promotion for the upcoming film that could be categorized as “viral”, utilizing the back channels of the web much in the same way that Cloverfield did about this time last year. That is, until now…
Yes, that’s an in-universe report on the tenth anniversary of the transformation of Jonathan Osterman into Dr. Manhattan. It’s not only a cool teaser of what’s to come, but a good indication of how well Zack Snyder and crew are handling the different eras covered in the source material.
