Next iPhone to Drop to $199?
Ever since the first iPhone dropped, there’s been chatter about the next round of the product that will inevitably offer the faster 3G protocol. We know that it’s coming at some point, just not when and at what cost. The when is being rumored at the non-surprising time frame of this June, but the cost is said to come at the double taking point of just $199. Practically a steal, considering the Second Coming of the Jesus Phone.
Fortune claims that they have an insider source telling them that the new iPhone will be cut down by half in price for two year suckers contract signers when the new round of products hits Apple and AT&T stores. Whenever that may happen to be. Though that rumored June date is likely tied to the upcoming software update around that same time that will finally open the App Store and bring (legal) third party applications to the device.
In other iPhone news that seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle, Flash could be headed to the phone around that time as well. Our own venerable Jedi Apprentice reported in a thread back in March that Adobe could be using the Software Development Kit to make a workaround that would allow the web standard.
Considering all this, if you are looking to pick up the Savior of cell phones, it looks like it might be a good idea to hold off for a few months as better days (and better prices) seem to be on the horizon for the iPhone.
