Injury bug bites Shawn Michaels

If you are among those who frequent the land of sports entertainment, this is definitely not good news. WWE star Shawn Michaels, who happens to be a part of the biggest storyline on WWE programming this year and is among the highest level of talent and recognition in the company, has reportedly suffered a torn triceps muscle that could keep him sidelined for up to six months…

Various sources from within the wrestling industry are reporting that during the taping of the September 1st edition of Raw, Shawn Michaels suffered a torn triceps muscle. Not a stranger to injury, this comes immediately following a period in which Michaels has been resting up and taking some time off from the in-ring grind of the business that has taken many a toll on his body in the past. It has to especially hurt for a storyline that was written to coincide with some time off for one of its parties to be capped off with that person falling to an actual injury. WWE has built what has easily been the best angle in wrestling around Michaels and his opponent Chris Jericho for the last several months.

Although what is heavily considered to be the conclusion to their rivalry is set to take place at the Unforgiven PPV on 9/7, the “unsanctioned” grand finale may also be the last time we see Shawn Michaels wrestle until sometime around March. This throws a huge wrench into whatever plans were scripted for Michaels between now and then…and quite possibly…most likely…whatever plans were to be scripted for Michaels for Wrestlemania 25 in his homestate of Texas in April of 2009.

Despite age and enduring one injury after another, Shawn Michaels continues to find ways to bounce back and be among the best and most entertaining in the business

Despite age and enduring one injury after another, Shawn Michaels continues to find ways to bounce back and be among the best and most entertaining in the business

Even if you’re not an optimist, you may instantly conclude that Shawn Michaels will bounce back. He’s got a track record of severe back problems in addition to more recent knee injuries, but the man continues to climb right back and seemingly never lose a step.  His charisma and ability to tell a story in the ring would probably make it easy to disguise whatever shortcomings age and injury may rack up on him. That said, don’t count Michaels out for Wrestlemania 25 just yet. Not only does the recovery time give him a realistic shot of being 100% recovered from this reported injury within the month before the event, but he has come back earlier than scheduled when previously injured in the past. You could also look on the bright side and note that this injury may turn out to be less severe than it is said to be. Plus we’re talking about a homecoming of sorts on the grandest stage within his industry…not to mention the 25th anniversary of the event. So one way or another, there’s sure to be some light at the end of the tunnel here for Shawn Michaels, his fans, and those who realize his undeniable value.
