Okay, I just saw the trailer up on the official site.
Was that Marlon Brando's voice as Jor-El, or was that Anthony Hopkins?
Because it sounds a little bit like both to me....

Me too. I just can't understand why Singer made a remake of the original movie, whereas there are billions of good ideas in the comics. I mean: same spaceship, same crystal...and even Brando's voice and Williams' score in the trailer. I'd have liked something NEW for once.

The new picture does nothing to inspire me. Routh just about every picture looks like an "almost grown-up" version of Superboy. I was hoping that as more pictures leaked my opinion would change, but it hasn't... it's solidified.
Routh looks as much like a Superboy as Welling. Even though Cain was short, at least he looked grown. And as young as Reeve looked in "The Movie" he still looked like a man.

Hey I'm not personally knocking Routh's manhood. I know he's a man. He's what 26 years old or something. What I'm saying is he looks young. Way young. Like Superboy about to be a man young. I thought my opinion would change, but it hasn't he doesn't suit the role. I'm not saying you can't think he looks like a Superman, I'm just saying I think he looks at most like an older Superboy. I also think that the WB cast him because of that. Routh is just another example of modern Hollywood casting favoring the Manboy look.

There's more that fit the bill but I don't remember the names off hand. But just in example they all look like boys to stars of old in their "breakout" roles.
Reeve - Superman Ford - Han Stallone - Rocky Gibson - Mad Max
Routh looks like an old Superboy to me. Modern Hollywood casts Manboys.

To me it's not that he looks young, it's that his build is too narrow. That won't change when he gets older. Superman is traditionally built like a linebacker, with very wide shoulders and a thick neck, while this guy, though muscular-looking, is built more like a swimmer. (Aqua-Man?)
But ultimately I don't think it's too important, he looks superman-ish enough that if his acting is good we won't be thinking too much about whether he perfectly looks the part, and if his acting is bad, well, then he'd still be a bad superman even if he looked more like our mental picture of superman. George Clooney looked more like how I picture Bruce Wayne than either Michael Keaton or Christian Bale, but he was the worst Batman of the three IMO (though that was probably due more to the godawful script than to Clooney's acting).

Singer said the opening credits will be similiar to those of STM and that they WILL be using the Williams theme... He said its kind of like Star Wars when it comes to the theme or something like that..

Wow, CRAZY goosebumps watching that trailer!
Using the original music (Planet of Krypton) along with Brando's voiceover is incredibly effective. Man, I watched it about 10 times, kept getting adrenaline surges towards the end.
The flick will likely come nowhere near the trailer, but I'm more excited about this now than I was prior.

I think he looks good for the role. Only slight complaint is that his neck is a little thin.

If Thomas Jane could bulk up to play the Punisher and Hugh Jackman could do the same to play Wolverine, it seems to me that this should be required for Superman as well. I have total faith that Singer will make this work, but this guy looks way too think for the role.
