I myself have NEVER posted just to get my post count up, and always meant to post. However, I am perfectly fine with other people doing this. Their business, not mine.

They are just doing it because it annoys you.
I like using blank posts when I want to reply but an Smilie shows my opinion. Otherwise I just post words like this.

you know what really ticks me off? posts where people try and justify insulting others by saying they are just more intellectually superior than everyone else. well, you aren't wearing any clothes.
i think threads that complain so bitterly about completely inocuous things like post counts should be deleted. takes up band width, i say.

Ok, seriously, who cares about the number of posts people have? To make someone appear smart? It doesn't mean that because someone has 999999999999 posts mean that any of them are intelligent. So, if someone wants to sit around and post blank posts just to get their posts up let them if they want to, but it sounds like a waste of time to me.

I once moaned about how many (or rather, FEW) posts I had in relation to the time I had been registered here. I don't remember exactly who said this (it was either Mandard, Red 5, or DP), but I was told that those who have been around for a while and had small post numbers, usually contribute the most to whatever discussion that they DO take part in.
In other words, what GK said.
