It's a messageboard, not the United Nations. Why do mods have to be diplomatic? Like it or not, this really is not a democracy. Why pretend that it is?

So then why even have a Feedback Board? I've heard your excuse "It's A MB, It's Private, bleh, bleh" at about every Message Board out there. Please enlighten us with your solution then?

I'll help you out pavonis. Instead of addressing my post, why not address Number Six and the response given to Destiny Skywalker. I distinctly remember that flaming and name-calling was a serious issue on the Registration screen?
Do you recall that pavonis?

Six explained why the thread was closed. He said it very clearly. Destiny apparently missed it.
I've seen no blatant flaming or name-calling in this thread.
Why have a Feedback board? I don't know. Most of the time threads are only members whining about threads being closed. The rest are about errors in the UBB code.
I still don't know why people ask to be mods. Most of the time people just harass us for whatever we do. If it were real life, I'd be angry, but really, nothing that happens here is worth getting upset about.

Really, the main topic of this thread doesn't interest or concern me... But I think something that pavonis said deserves a bit of a challenge... Moderators don't need to be diplomatic? Well, I suppose if you believe that all diplomats are nothing but people who cave in... well okay... But that's not what a diplomat is supposed to do. A moderator shouldn't be an ass just because he can. I think we've gone down that road before with Styx, didn't we? N6's actions as Moderator bother a good many people... some for legitimate reasons some not, as always. But rather than listening to why people are complaining and thinking about his actions at the very least (explaining them to those with complaints), and to do that in an honest and non-condescending way he is instead being a jerk. He is presumably a Moderator at this message board because the Administrators that empowered him felt that he had a level head, a firm grip on the rules of this board, and the wisdom to accomplish the simple tasks put before him fairly. They didn't likely bring him on to be arrogant and dismissive of others ideas or questions. The Administrators can do that just fine

In all of the dealings with Six that I've had or seen, he's been generally level-headed, but there's no point in trying to be level-headed with people who refuse to act the same way. It's a no-win situation. Either he's a jerk or he's a jerk, no matter what he does.
Look at the thread title. It's not exactly a pleasant thing. It wasn't designed to be a level-headed discussion. Why should he be diplomatic in such a situation, when there's no interest in diplomacy?
And, in response to the thread in question, it would be nice if it were a little more even-handed in closing down such threads, but..

Snoop asked a question. I answered it. So then everybody whined, implying that they wished to analyze my decision further. You don't trust my quick and simple answer? You want detailed analysis, then? Great, but I refuse to settle for half-assed.
If you'd like to understand my motives, you guys need to transcend beyond "You're MEAN!" or "you're POWER-HUNGRY!" or "You're a PRUDE!". I expect better understanding than that from my own seven-year-old. Everything I do has a reason, if you take the time to think about it.
I tried at length to get the complainers to get beyond that, and to think about it. They flatly refused, and made the conscious decision to remain stubbornly ignorant.
That offends me more than flaming ever possibly could.
If you guys want to jump at the sight of every thread-lock like Pavlov's dogs jumping at the dinner bell, that's your decision. Just keep in mind what Brando said previously:
quote: Complaining about stuff like this, when you can legitimately understand why the choice was made to close it, if you have the ability to think, then you're going to ruin it when there is a legitimate complaint. Whining because you don't get your way ruins it when there is a legitimate mistake made.
