EIGHT = 8 threads for a scavenger hunt on SWC! I believe that is flooding. THIS could have been done differently, in two threads. One for posting the hunt, one for participants to post links to their found items.
Call me a Grinch, but I am sick and tired of the mod of that board ignoring posting rules (5 threads/topic) when it suits her purposes, and coming down hard on people not to her lieking!
Or are you going to tell me now that SWC is separate and the rules eg for the Cantina don't apply there?

That is exactly what I am going to tell you. That rule was made by Six and Torch and it doesn't apply anywhere but their forum.

Why? The rule was made as a check against news flooding. That's never been a problem anywhere else.

Mandard...I'm wondering if perhaps Yogi's biggest concern is that there appears to be two sets of rules in Chicks...one for most posters, and a different one for Silky when and if she feels like it. I, too, have been on the wrong end of that, and it is very frustrating.

Yes, I know what Yogie's concerns are. And she's stretching herself very far trying to find genuine examples of it. This one wasn't even worth the effort it took her to get all those links.
Look, I don't know why people bother with their complaints about Silky unless they have a legitimate problem (and I mean more than the fact that you dislike her). It's not like we're going to kick her out just because some members aren't happy with her, so you can save yourself the time and effort and just learn to deal with it.

Thank you Mandard. Let me forewarn you, Yogie and friends, if you intend to FLOOD SWC; the rule will be instagated there, too. I doubt very many SWC and HSWC will thank you too kindly if that happens.

So they scavenger hunt threads can proceed, but if Yogie and her friends attempt the same type of "flooding", then the same rule used in the Cantina WILL be applied?
Isn't that exactly what the complaint entailed? The old bait and switch routine, which will always favor the person holding the goods?

ie: Right now it's not a rule, but if other anti-Silky (not meant to be negative) Members do it, then the rule changes to suit the authority.
*whew , backs out of room slowly*
just my 2 cents Roger

DK and Lujac - Yup, yup, and yup! Walt did a similar thing with his RPG threads. They were instantly shut down! Rightfully so, I would like to point out! And these scavenger hunt threads are no different, especially since that hunt, as I have said before, could have easily been confined to two threads and still achieve the same purpose!
And no, Silky, don't fret. I will certainly NOT flood SWC which you regard as your own personal board for your own personal little yes-men and women and on which you think you can do as you please.
Mandard - I respect your opinion on this and if you say that the limited posts/day/topic rule should only apply for the Cantina, so be it. nevertheless - the threads I have posted above ARE examples of what I would call flooding - all have the same topic. If that is not flooding, what is?

Keep in mind that Yo-Gurt and Lujac are two of many, many people who have long-standing, pointless, petty grudges against Silky.
Silky was a participant in the Scavenger Hunt, but not its organizer. Had careful note been made of that, their complaints might have actually looked sincere. You'll notice neither one mentions Elfin Yoda in their posts at all; instead, Lujac rushes to dump the blame on Silky, because fairness isn't what it's about. It's about trolling Silky. Again and again and again until the laws of physics alter radically and Silky-bashing somehow becomes a noble cause somewhere in the world beyond their own minds.
So I'll see yer two cents and raise ya a nickel.

ps: I'm stepping out of room and not coming back. The worst thing is to give 2 cents and then be labelled a "Whiner" or a "complainer". It's happened before when I simply take a stand. Don't beat me up or label me, Mandard, Ryn, Ewoksucks, etc.
Thanks Roger

The big difference between these threads and the others you mentioned Yogie is that while the Scavenger Hunt Threads are about the same topic, they were posted by different members. The other threads you mentioned were posted by the sameperson. You can claim these threads are redundant but not flooding. It's usually up to the board moderators to decide what is redundant and what is not. You're comparing apples and oranges. And why am I even bothering?

The complaint was that there were too many threads about the scavenger hunts and that it constituted flooding, so therefore Silky, as the moderator, should have done something about it.
IMO, the complaint is not valid. The threads were part of an activity that many members were participating in. Flooding is usually associated with multiple threads by one member acting alone. It would not have hurt to have kept the responses on one thread, but I do not believe it was necessary to force members to do so. By my definition, flooding means something that is an annoyance to at least a significant number of members, if not a majority. I don't believe this comes even close to qualifying. In fact, if Silky had attempted to force them to reply on one thread, she probably would have received much more criticism for trying to overmoderate. Therefore, I do not believe she was at fault for not acting.
I hope this addresses the flooding question sufficiently. The rest of the stuff here can be taken care of privately.
