It seems to have disappeared from existence the last time I checked and the url to EpisodeIII.com at the bottom of the main page leads to the Prequels forum. Is it just closed till after Episode II comes out or is it gone for good and is up for sale?

JA, you should just put a HUGE spoiler warning on episodeiii.com that says something along the lines of "PADME DIES" or "PADME HAS TWINS" or something incredibly stupid or obvious.

I suspect Chris still owns the domain name but they are not bothering to host a web site/page for it right now to save money to use on episodeii.com and the rest of Nightly. After Episode II is out and the interested has waned, JA will probably shut it down and gear up episodeIII.com. That's just my guess though. I have no inside information.

Well it was a good explanation, ES. Thanks. Only now I hope that the administration can confirm what you said or give the reason reason.

Yeah, a "whois" search shows that Chris still owns it, for what that's worth.

I don't even understand why they're bothering to host episodeii.com at this point. JA is so ****ing lazy he can only update the site about once every year or so... I mean come on, this is ridiculous. "People don't give me stuff"... "I can't do my job unless people spoonfeed me the news I'm supposed to be giving them on the site I chose to Administrate"... Come on!!! November 16th!!! You kept the site up, as promised, for 3 days?!?! Now, I know you're either going to ignore this, whine about not enough time, or give some other lame-ass excuse for it not getting done... NONE of which are acceptable. I've said it before and I'll say it now. If you cannot keep episodeii.com up to date find someone who can.

Actually, the COWD is currently in construction and Michael hasn't made any promises that he couldn't keep. Therefore, you can't compare between the two.

Thank you Walter, but I can handle this one... There are 4 main differences between COWD.net and episodeii.com... I will enunciate them for you JC.
1) Nightly exists as it is today because of episodeii.com. I would wager that the majority of members (especially within the first year and formative stages of NN) came through episodeii.com. I know I did and I know most of the people who came when I did and for some time afterward came through episodeii.com.
Compare that to COWD.net. COWD.net is designed after the message board to provide a stimulus and influx of new members in the future to bolster the membership COWD already has. The difference being that NN was built by episodeii.com whereas COWD.net is being built to service the board... Opposite functions. Had I not posted on COWD since July 23rd you might actually have a point there.
2) episodeii.com is a domain name that has a limited lifespan. After the premiere of AOTC and a few months afterward that domain will cease in its usefulness, which will be transferred to episodeiii.com.
COWD.net is under no such time limitations.
3) I own COWD and COWD.net, JA doesn't own episodeii.com or Nightly.net. Rather, JA was simply put in charge of maintaining those sites for Chris since he could no longer do the job... Logic dictates that if Chris wanted episodeii.com not to be updated virtually ever he would've remained in control and not updated it himself, but as he put someone else in charge he clearly wanted it updated...
Therefore, what I do with my own property, my own site, and a site that is not entrusted to me by anyone else is quite a bit different than the case with JA.
4) episodeii.com was a fully functional, competitive website... Then the ball was dropped and never picked up again. Sure, we keep hearing how it will be updated... Sure, we were told for 9 months about a new design... And yet, nothing has been maintained with the site.
Meanwhile, COWD.net has never been up, has never been fully functional, and has only been in the construction/test phases up to this point. In fact, COWD.net will not open until January 1st...
So, as you can see, there is a series of differences and I'm glad you've given me the opportunity to flesh them out for you JC.

I was wondering if The Main page could be made to allow others to update it dynamically some how. There are several ways it could be done. That way JA stays in charge of the over all design of the site but allows assigned people to just keep the content updated.

And that would be fine with me ES... I don't even want JA to remove himself from power on the site... But something needs to give. A partner, or a few "reporters" like you suggest would be fine... SOMETHING though... I can't be the only one distressed over this.

You're welcome.
I came to this site through episodeii.com back in the day like many others. Personally, I don't care when or if either it or COWD is updated, but that's a personal opinion and, like you, we're all entitled to those opinions.
The lack of updating of the main page has not seemed to slow the traffic that Nightly gets. We're pruning every month and a half. Members come and members go.
Whether the original idea behind the existance of episodeii.com was to bolster membership or to provide stimuli to existing members only Chris would know. If it was to bolster membership, as you seem to indicate, it seems to have served its purpose well and may no longer be relevant to the existance of Nightly.Net.
Does the domain name have potential? Probably. But Chris owns the domain name, and, as you've indicated, has entrusted JA to Nightly's upkeep. I've seen or heard of no evidence to indicate that Chris is displeased with JA's oversight of the site.
The problem here seems to be your expectations of what this site should be. For all we know, Chris does not want a fully-functional, competitive site. Maybe he woke up one morning and thought, "Gee, wouldn't it be great if I bought the episodeii and -iii.com domain names and set up a friendly little message board to go with it?". You probably want the former, while I would prefer the latter. The reality of what Chris intended is probably somewhere in between.
It's been my observation that most people frequenting Nightly use the message boards. There doesn't seem to be a lack of information about Episode II or III (especially if you visit Prequels, where a controversy is brewing over spoilers in the thread titles). You're probably not the only person that would like to see the site updated more often, but I don't think most of our members are losing sleep over it.
But at least the forums are being used. To put your comment about your posting on COWD in perspective, out of your last 50 posts on Nightly(as of today) 31 have been on Feedback. And I would wager that most of those posts have been on threads that:
A) Criticize the adminstration or moderatorship of the boards or the decisions made by such.
B) Nightly's financial situation.
Neither of which are unimportant topics, but you do at times sound like a broken record. I guess I'm saying that I would be less inclined to groan, "Here we go again" when I see your posts if you spent more time participating on the forums than you do stalking JA.
I sincerely hope that when COWD opens, it will be a fully-functional, competitive site--if, in fact, that is what you wish it to be. I also hope that you will be spared incessant criticism over what other people's expectations of your site should be.

I came to NN from SWCez to SWCnn. I've never been to Epi2.com and I probably never will.

I wish you well with your new site GK. But I guess that whatever Mr. Sherman and JA want to do with their website is totally up to them. Perhaps you could voice your concerns to Mr. Sherman?

But what has happened to EpisodeIII.com? I have been waiting for a response for this question for the past few days and I have yet to receive a response.

Oh geeeeezzzzz!!!
Here's the deal, Big Willie Style: I asked Yogurt why she mentioned NumberSix in her reply because it didn't make sense at all to me... until I guessed that she probably meant to quote this: "I'm glad you've given me the opportunity to flesh them out for you JC " instead of the quote that she actually used. Then, it made more sense, and the point was moot. Hence: edit.
Oh, and if your comment is some sort of follow-up to my edit on one of your posts, then let me clarify that for you too. You told Silky she made you "wet". In my original post I asked you if that meant you'd peed your pants or something. I changed that reply once I realized you'd probably go into more detail about what you actually meant by "wet", and I decided I'd rather not know.
Now was that really worth all the extra explanation? Nope. Hence: edit.
So, feel free to challenge my edits whenever you suspect cowardice, big fella. Since 99% of my edits are to clarify the things I've said, I'll gladly go that extra mile to explain myself more clearly, if only to prove my courage and bravery to you, my liege.

LMAO! Ahh, JC's a big girl. She can usually handle herself.
Besides, the main reason I haven't touched this thread -- or the last twenty-seven just like it that all managed to produce the exact same results with or without my participation -- is that I honestly don't give a flying **** about episodeii.com.

Erm...I'm speaking with Michael at the moment and I pointed out your quote to him. He says he hasn't but because I have sworn to an oath to be open minded this year, I only ask for proof in a form of a thread that shows that he posted directly after he responded onto this thread.
