EpisodeII.com has merged with the new Episode-X.com, one of most newsworthy and popular Star Wars websites on the Internet. Through this new partnership, EpisodeII.com will once again become the top website for Episode II information on the Internet.
Nightly.net and EpisodeII.com's ties will not end. EpisodeII.com will still link back to Nightly.net and visitors will still be encouraged to visit the forums.
EpisodeII.com email will also continue through Episode-X, and the service will likely become larger thanks to Episode-X's interested fanbase.
I look forward to this new partnership with Episode-X. It's certainly a godsend for EpisodeII.com, and I'm sure the benefits will weigh onto Nightly.net as well.

cool. glad to see someone making use of this great domain
nightly.net Nightly.net is a Star Wars based message board that is unique in that it has grown beyond its original purpose and encompassed a wide variety of subjects.
Early History Born on June 1, 1999 following on the heels of The Phantom Menace's release, nightly.net began as a spin-off of Chris Sherman's episodeii.com, episodeiii.com, and scifiction.com projects. While the websites that spawned the message board were neglected and eventually closed, the message boards prospered.
Over a thousand new members registered in the first month alone. Even more posted without registering before discipline problems led to the registration requirement. With The Phantom Menace still fresh in the minds of hundreds of posters the lone board, known as Episode II Predictions, was immediately filled with the burning questions of the day. The question of whether Palpatine and Darth Sidious were the same person being the most frequent and vexing question.
Board Split Trouble was not long in coming. A poster by the name of war4theunderdog posted a beatnick poetry thread. The thread started a controversy that led to name calling. Chris Sherman, being the brilliant arbitrator that he was, solved the dilemma by simply creating a second board.
With the community board established, several more soon followed including unsuccessful boards from other sites such as horror.net and newsdroid.com.
A mysterious board marked as "W" also appeared in those early days protected by a password. Wiccans resided on that board, though few members had any clue to such activity.
The Lando System With the new community board established, several members wandered over wondering exactly what they should do in the pristine board. They were so confused that this question was the very first topic. After some deliberation, a thread posted by The Jedi Apprentice appeared about the color of lightsabers (oddly a topic that could have been posted in the Predictions area that they had recently been cast out of).
The board quickly established its own character. War4theunderdog christened the board The Lando System and the group adopted the smooth ladies man as their official pimp and established Colt 45 as the official drink of the Lando System.
Following an incident where the mother of one of the younger members complained, The Lando System became the first, and only board to receive a PG-13 rating for its content.
Board Wars With two highly succussful boards came tension, the tension turned to taunting, and the taunting turned into a board war.
Fiction Early in nightly's history, fiction was an essential part of the growing community. Darth Soothian started the trend with a Continuing Story thread. He and C'baoth contributed dozens of posts to the project. Several members posted their Star Wars fanfiction in Episode II Predictions.
In The Lando System, war4theunderdog began his own brand of fiction. Though his stories included Jedi and Sith, the characters were based on the alias's of members of the Lando System and the stories considerably more adult themed and aimed at humor. These Pimp Wars were instramental in the early formation of The Lando System's culture. Dozens of stories in the same vein followed in what was the greatest collective outburst of creative energy ever seen at nightly.
Later, a dedicated fan-fiction board was created. Though, sporadic fiction is still published to this day in The Lando System, The Mos Eisley Cantina, and in the Star Wars dedicated boards, it is something of a dying art.
The Jedi Council
The Amidala777 Incident In early July, the Lando System member Amidala777 was promoted to the rank of moderator of the Episode II speculation board. During her first day on the job one of her tasks was to eliminate a running gag that was quickly becoming an annoyance to most members. The joke had to do with the A New Hope pilot Porkins and the claim that he was the greatest hero of Star Wars.
The elminiation of the joke caused a severe backlash from a group calling themselves the "Alliance" and split amongst the board and, less than 24 hours into the job, Amidala777 was fired.
The Alliance members were given their own board, which became a freefire zone in its own right causing the creation of another board called The Empire.
The "Senior Members Unite" (SMU) Movement Many of the members were dismayed by the lynching of another member and started a movement of their own
Jedi Council Members C'Baoth Darth Palpatine The Jedi Apprentice Darth Soothian son of lucas Amidala777 Starscream's Ghost Darth Psycho
Duties One of the most notable aspects of the Jedi Council was that they really didn't do that much. They had their own private board, but didn't have a clear goal. A few duties such as thread archival were put into place, and many of the members became moderators of their own board, but nothing much was done.
Finally, the members decided to start using themselves as a think tank and create games, name members of the week, and judge concepts.
Fall of the Jedi Council Before these plans could be put into place, the members were faced with the loss of Amidala777 for good. As such they needed a new member. It was suggested by son of lucas that they choose the new member themselves because it was quite possible that jealousy would tear the Council down if they weren't careful.
Several candidates were mentioned including Sith Lord Indigo and Gasgano. Sith Lord Indigo was the favorite, but pulled himself out. Still he tied with Gasgano with the most votes.
When the announced voting time ended, son of lucas congratulated Gasgano on his election. This proved premature when Sith Lord Indigo suddenly announced he would accept the nomination. The thread was quickly taken down.
Expansion Chris leaves.

Are their forums going to continue to exist, or will they be assimilated into our own?
And have you looked at their "Anarchy Board?"

Hmmm...I'm a bit concerned about this. But I trust you with this, JA. As long as Nightly is Nightly, I'll be fine.

All the links to messageboards that I can see, 'cept for that little box on the left proclaiming "Nightly.net", link to e-x.com's boards. That's not encouraging.

Oh, while I'm *****ing around, why does Nightly link to starwarschicks.com? What's Nightly's 'relationship' with them? They don't link to Nightly and they've got their own Ezboard now.

Au contraire, LiC - SWC does link to NN. You have to go to their chat/communications section. There, both the ez-SWC AND the NN-SWC are listed!

I checked three times - I cannot find ANY link from Episode-X ---> Nightly.Net! Whjen you go to their Message Boards (which I presume are somewhere in Europe, if not Germany itself, since some buttons are in German and board time in German time) NN isn't even listed in their links section!
This is super bad, folks! EpisodeII effectively has ceased to exist, and NN might soon follow because
a.) Chris Sherman gives a flying **** about these boards (which is his right since he owns them)
b.) the admins are incapable of securing financial support to keep the server NN is located on paid
c.) Apparently no communication exists between Chris Sherman and JA, thus no matter what JA or Mandard tell us about the future of NN, it might all be null and void because they don't know what Chris is going to do with NN.
You think this merger of EpisodeII was the only one? Think again! Daamn:(

Not to mention that the swchicks board, technically belongs to the website and Nightly is just hosting it. Unless that's changed.

unless swchicks is paying nightly then swchicks and nightly belongs to nightly.
also, episode-x.com/episode2 does link to nightly... it's a square picture link provided in the side bar.
finally, as long as nightly is nightly... i have no problem whatsoever. i mean it's not like we we're using episodeii.com. and those using it's email address function will still be able to use it as episode-x.com looks to be putting that feature to use as well. they have a link to episodeII.com email addresses on the episode2 page although the link is not active at the moment.

Sorry to disagree with you zambingo but swchicks doesn't belong to nightly, it belongs to www.starwarschicks.com Nightly is just hosting it.

i meant that the swchicks forum here at nightly belongs to nightly since we receive no payment for hosting "their" message board. and that if that was a problem then we should just drop the name swchicks from the forum. i'm not saying that we should force them to pay us, i'm just saying that if they want to claim it is theirs then we should get paid. othewise the forum is ours, nightly's. it was just my thought to your "technically it belongs to the website" (meaning swchicks) statement.
no attack intended, silky. just that legally it's something that should be very clearly defined.
personally i think we should remove all leans on other sites and start pumping this as just a good message board... which it is.

that was one of my fears some months ago. i mentioned that what would stop chris from just selling this place or something like that and that we should look into getting the rights to nightly.net. but ja assured me that chris wouldn't do that and that we really don't need to take nightly from chris. so although this merge for episodeII was unsettling at first, i'm still... i don't know maybe delusionally hopeful that as ja has stated, nightly is staying nightly.
anyway even though i explained that it's not like episodeII was being used by us, i do so totally understand where nat is coming from.

Fact: EpisodeII.com belongs to Chris Sherman. Until recently, the webmaster was Bryan (Jedi Apprentice).
Question: How is it anyone's business? If JA didn't want to have help from users of the message board, then that's his decision. If he and/or Chris wanted to have it affiliated with episode-X, that's their decision. Not ours.
And, the whole "legality" issue is only an issue to you. I work on a site for a non-profit organization. Focal Hosting hosts it for free. They don't own it in any way - they host it.

look we just need to get some things defined here. the more and more i think about it, yeah i was hamburgerhelper too, i'm getting a bad taste in my mouth about this merger.
we need to be informed about stuff. episodeII was and has always been apart of nightly if i recall. it was infact one of the primary reasons people even found this site in the first place. personally i found this place because of swchicks... long story.
this whole we're in the dark till the moment of decision or after the decision is crazy.
correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't some of our intial donations go to keeping episodeII online? if i recall they did. yeah because we didn't front cc.com but we kept ourselves and episodeII alive.
at least in a monthly hosting the domain sense, since i'm pretty sure we have never had to reregister the domains.
you know, when i really think about it, it's almost as if say the cantina was suddenly given over to another site to run.
