Hold up fellow members.

Just want to know why James Bond forum was even brought up? 10,985 posts isn't exactly the last placed Board under Popular Series Board. Anyways carry on with this discussion...

Im not saying it is, but it barely sees any action nowadays.

--------------------
You raise up your head
And you ask, "Is this where it is?"
And somebody points to you and says "It's his"
And you say, "What's mine?"
And somebody else says, "Well, what is?"
And you say, "Oh my God, am I here all alone?"

You're the one who said that Matrix was being discussed here. I was merely pointing out that it wasn't, only getting a board was.
Again my point is you are the one with the weak argument. Matrix isn't even being discussed on the Movie forum. Why should it have it's own board? That's what the Admins generally look at, not 'petition' thread.

I kinda agree Axis.

Mr.KKBBBBBBB where are you?!? You know what we talked about before! Plan of action time.

Anyways, we can blame the franchise on Cub's daughter and Halle's pathetic speech at the Oscars. [Wink]

What is your point silky?

Are you saying that the Matrix only caters to guys and that Nightly shouldn't host sex based forums... such as Star Wars Chicks?

Is that your argurment? Thats the case you seem to be trying to make.

The activity in this thread alone is evidence of general board interest.

Matrix board would be good, but I too would love to have a Sci-Fi/Fantasy board. I have bothered the admins too much for my voice to mean anything though. [Frown]

I agree with Silky...hardly anyone discusses The Matrix at the movie board, so why give it its own board? Go to the movie forum and start a Matrix discussion thread if you are so hard up. I believe even that was tried once...and it fizzled faster than you can say "There is no spoon" or "Whoa" or "I know kung-fu".
On the other hand, I remember back in the day there was a Blair Witch board here at nightly...

I still believe that the Movie board has a different audience than the Matrix board would bring. That's why threads die there.

But I'll say it again, the Sci-fi/Fantasy board would be the best choice of all. [Wink]

Exactly, Macstorm. A Sci Fi/Fantasy board would cover it.

First off, it'd be a lot nicer if everybody would just relax. [Smile]

Secondly, I don't base the potential of new boards on the amount of current discussion on that topic. The fact that there isn't much Matrix discussion on Movies isn't something I really take into account. General boards, by definition, are general and I wouldn't expect people to flood Movies with Matrix threads to show how much they want to talk about it. That would just be annoying for everybody.

Also, I don't really buy the argument of all the broad Matrix-related material besides the movies. Realistically, a Matrix forum would pretty much just be about the movies. After the initial surge, it would probably struggle a bit until the new ones came along and would probably struggle a lot after they came and went. There's nothing wrong with that. That's how many of our forums are, but there's no reason to pretend that there would be all these other kinds of discussion keeping things going.

A much more important issue here is space. As in, we don't have much of it. It would be great if I could just throw out boards for Matrix, Sci-Fi, Fantasy and anything else that struck our fancy, but we don't really have that freedom. As it is, I'm surprised we're not penalized by our host since it seems we're pretty consistently flirting with or over our limit.

So I never thought a Matrix board was necessarily a bad idea (or Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Collecting, etc). I just never thought it had enough solid potential to justify the space. At best, we can only expand slowly and carefully. The situation may change in the future, but right now this is a pretty big concern.

(And please, no arguments about deleting some boards that you find less useful in place of one that you prefer. We're aware of the state of the boards. We're also aware of the boards that people have interest in seeing created. Changes are always possible, but slamming other boards in the hope of getting the one you want is not something that impresses us.)

Since I've been here at Nightly, I've responded to many threads, but rarely started a topic...
However, I already have a few in mind to start at a Matrix board. It would be nice to have that opportunity at Nightly with members that I'm familiar with, that are also Matrix fans. If you ever decide to do it, Mandard...I'm there! [Smile]

I'm all for a Matrix board!

I think there's plenty of stuff to discuss. The beauty about the movie was that it showed a just a small glimpse of an obviously much more complicated and vast world. Much like Star Wars universe, it is a fascinating place for the imagination to inhabit, whether or not the discussion is specifically about the upcoming movies. I for one relished the days when absolutely nothing was known about Episode II, the mystery and enigma that surrounded it sparked the imaginations of many, and produced some of the most creative (and crazy) ideas imaginable.

nah....
#1. Matrix is one Movie, whos popularity could easily be snuffed out if the sequal sucks.

#2. you can't really compare James Bond to Matrix James Bond has what, 19 movies with one on the way plus James Bond has been an Internationaly popular for practicaly 50 years.

A Sci-Fi board has HUGE potential. If we cant have a Matrix board im definetly in support of a Sci-fi board. The range of topics is absurdly massive.

hmm...
first of all, I think its hilarious that ppl posted here about which boards they think are 'expendable', such as james bond... I have never posted there, but i dont begrudge anyone who does from having their board... I also find it amusing that ppl post here to state their opinions on the matrix... start a thread in the movie forum if you want to talk about how you hated/loved it. jeez.

although i would love a matrix forum, i think if space is limited, we should just stop complaining and post our thoughts in other boards which will probably be just as appropriate, for example, matrix under movies, and other sci fi things under books, movies or comics or whatev they fall under.

oh, and i recommend coming to visit our RPG if you like the matrix, we are still just beginning, so there is always room...

I fear if the administration does not succumb to their request for this Matrix board, they will create one themselves, piercing the fabric and threads of Nightly.net with the use of ...... the Matrix!

Then I want a Die-Hard Forum.

Then I want a PlayBoy Forum.
