The above thread, first posted in the Cantina and then moved to the Lando board, describes the brutal violation of a boy by his classmates. The circumstance of the violation are mentioned, as is the method of brutalizing the youth.
The poster of this thread, as well as the majority of posters on this thread, seem to find such attrocious treatment of a human being very amusing and funny!
Could I get a reason why this thread still is open, please? Thanks.

MY
I find it ironic that you would say this considering the fact that you had told Kwan Yu on this very thread that you thought someone should perform this same act of violence on him. Of course your post on that thread was deleted because the Moderators do not condone violence.

You're right, I did, and even before Ryn would have edited my remark I would have edited myself. it was uncalled for. However, that notwithstanding, this thread mirrors clearly how violence that resembles the acts of homoerotic connotations id found laughable and acceptable by many here on NN.
As for my edited posts - I belatedly appoligize, Kwan.

it's news, granted it is rather extraordinary news, it doesn't change what it is. i would consider it far less vilolent than a terrorist attack, and no one has any problems talking about that.
sure it is voilent but reporting violence isn't against the rules, if a member takes it another step and says something offensive delete it, as with your post, yogie.

I don't think the news report is her problem, the problem she has is with the replies that are laughing at the trauma. And people laughing at a terrorist attack would be considered a problem.
But, my only issue is the double standard for boards that are supposed to have the same "rating."
Why was the thread moved to Lando?

The message shouldn't even have been on Lando, everyone knows what the replies would be like. It should have been moved to the lyceum or something instead.

MY it seems your only point in making this thread is to change others minds and make them feel remorse for their actions, but you cannot therefore this isn't necassary...

Yes, that is my problem! I know violence happens world-wide every second. However, the reactions of many posters to this thread is belittlleling the trauma this boy went through.
Why is this act to amusing to many of you? Because it resembles a homosexual act, which I know the majority despises here on NN?
Kwan got awefully upset about another report of a child being accidentally hit by a policelam. How come that is so aweful, but shoving something up someone's butt causing grave injury is oh so funny?
THAT is my problem!
You know, I under stand that people have a problem with my views about the US, and I, too, have gone over the line. but NEVER have I rejoiced at the pain of anotehr human being!!!

I think if the majority of the people on this board despise homosexual acts, as you insist, then they wouldn't really find it funny, but disgusting, wouldn't they?
I don't think it's about homosexuality at all (I certainly didn't think about that when I read the article), but unfortunately immaturity.

It's not the homosexuality that's disgusting, it's the kid being molested that way. I'm going to stick with Yogie in this one. I don't think something like that should be laughed at.

Let's say they jammed a metal rod in the kid's ear. Ho Ho Ho isn't that funny?
Or maybe up his nose? Ha Ha "Up your nose with a metal rod" Doesn't rhyme, but it sure is funny. . . . Yogie's right, it's only considered funny because of it's homosexual connotations, there can be no denying that.
Nobody's saying there's anything wrong with posting a thread about that, like the aforementioned thread in which the policeman punched the girl, but posting it for the express intent of having a good laugh at that child's expense is pretty sick.
But whether that's against the rules or just in extremely bad taste, I don't know.

I agree, Akipk....and I agree with you too, FJ. It's not funny, and it shouldn't be laughed at. Would it be funny if it happened to you or someone you knew???

Hey I took it seriously and posted a reply about how I thought it was pretty horrible and that this isn't the only kind of occurence. It happened to a kid in my school district and they transferred the sicko who did it to my high school. So it's not like we were all laughing about it.

That totally didn't come to my mind at all when I read it.
and unfortunately i do think there are people that would laugh if a kid got a metal rod shoved up his nose or something.

That would make two of us.
Three of us... Lando getting away with stuff was my biggest problem I had when I was a mod. Six and I had slammed down on what was appropriate and then in Lando the crap still flew. So people would ruthelessly bash Six and I for doing what we were supposed to be doing. The two masters rule applies here. You've got one place where you get away with stuff and another where you don't. Eventually people hate the place where you can't get away with it.
Now don't get me wrong... in actuality Lando IS very much the same as the Cantina and I like KKBB, but certain things like sex and drug talk do go further in Lando. And that is where the members get the tight wad, loose goose impressions from.

Since when did anything posted on Nightly reflect the beliefs/values/ideas of the owners, authorities (Admins/mods), or other posters?
I think Yogie's just mad cuz Six is deleting all her posts.

Torch - I agree. I actually think that a lot of the stuff that goes on in Lando is just fine, really. Long-time lurker, rare poster. But, that's the point. It wasn't a member making that distinction. It was a Cantina mod or an admin who moved it. So, therefore, that mod or admin is saying "Hey, we firmly support the fact that Nightly isn't all rated the same, despite what we say in public."
That argument might not hold if it had been moved to, say, the Lyceum, but moving it to Lando is either just someones idea of a joke, or someone saying "Hey, Lando is for 'adult' humor." Which basically proves Yogie's point, as well.

Why should the only Nightly forum consistently allowed by the Admins to rise above the PG rating be confined solely to humorous topics?
