Mandard, is Darth Qui GOn around anymore? SInce Ep II released, there has been many many redundant thread, and no real sense of clean up in there. It makes the board less enjoyable when topics start evolving and a redundant thread pushes it out. Can we get some cleanup goin in Prequels?

I try to keep track of things as best I can but there's been a ridiculous amount of threads lately so if we've missed some problem threads, I'll be glad to look at them. Are there any specific threads you think need to be addressed?
And redundancy is the same problem that it's always been. There were probably a thousand Sid=Palp threads in the 3 years since TPM, but what can I do? If people want to keep talking about it, then they should have the freedom to do so. I know lots of people won't like it, but there's a certain number of hot topics from AOTC that are going to dominate the board from now on. With two weeks and 25 pages of threads, I would estimate that 90% of all the topics that will ever be discussed about AOTC have already been posted and will simply be rehashed and rediscussed for the next 3 years. That's the way TPM was. It kind of sucks, but that's just how things go. I don't think it's fair to tell people that if they missed the first round of "who is Sifo-Dyas" or "will padme die" threads, then they can't restart the discussions. It's not their fault they weren't around for the original discussions. If these are the things that most people want to talk about, then that's what we're going to see on this board for the next 3 years.
So the policy remains what it's always been. If I see a thread that's redundant with another one on the front page, I'll close it. But once a thread falls back several pages, I can't blame people for starting a new one.

Mandard need some extra help? . Maybe you should recruit someone for the movie forum.

Mandard, I know about how you can't fault people for not being around for initial discussions. I'm not talking about that.
I'm talking about, as an example, "who is sifo-dyas" based threads that would occupy the first 2 pages. Or, again just an example, 3 why padme will live/die threads. These aren't cases of missing initial discussions, this is the classic "I don't wanna put my reply as the 20th in that one thread, I want people to read MY idea as a new thread". Those, as far as I know were redundancies that were pretty much curtailed when you and DQG moderate the forum.
I realise the board is receiving a lot of traffic, but if the redundancy is being curtailed, then it will make the members less likely to do it, as they'll understand there's low tolerance of it.
