I'm not sure if I'm just going crazy, but people seem to have avatars then I've never seen before that you can choose from. If there's a way to get your own avatars, how do you put them in?

I've been having a problem with doing that. I type in the address of the picture that I want to use and submit it but nothing happens. Is there something more we should be doing?

Put the url in that space... submit it. Then you also have to press the "select this avatar" button in that same window. Also the file name for the avatars must end in .jpg or .gif AND the .jpg / .gif HAS TO BE in lower case letters. The avatar will not work if it is .JPG or .GIF in upper case. Trust me on this.
Afterthought... or at least that didn't work when custom avatars first became available.

Another thing that people sometimes miss is that after you choose your avatar and you return to the profile screen, you have to hit "Update Profile" to finalize the change.

Torch, copy and paste the orginal url. It's much easier than typing it out.
Also, remember, not all websites allow linking. I've seen some nice advertising for angelfire and geocities in the avatar space.

Ok, I did all of this. Why doesn't my avatar show a picture?

is it just the part past the erica thing?
Yes. Thats the way I typed it, but then all that nightly stuff appeared in front of it. Then I decided to put a http:// in front of it, but it didn't work. I tried typing it every way I can think of and nothing works.
