why is HTML enabled in only the computer forum (as far as I know thats the only one) why isn't it enabled in all forums? we should use HTM instead of UBB!

It's on in the computer forum because it's the computer forum. So people can test and learn. It's not on anywhere else because the slowing load time it would create for a lot of people. Not to mention the 'fun' some members would have that they shouldn't.

And yes it would slow load time. If a lot of people used marquee for example, or blinking text, or several other things. Not everyone has the newest, fastest computer or DSL/Cable/Ethernet. Some people really do have dial up and computers that are a couple (or more) years old.
The computer forum is there to help with comptuers and websites. It's a good reason to have html on there. Not everyone knows or understands html, so having it on there can help them.

How could we have all followed Darth Whoever's famouos HTML class without it? I can definately see the point in it being there as a learning tool.

considering it's a very simple tag to insert anywhere...most people know how.
Oh, and it's not stupid to have it enabled in the computer forum for the sole pupose of testing..
most people really don't want to bother with signing up for a web page just to test out some HTML. It's a lot easier to come here and do it.
Also, DW is doing an HTML guide type thing...so...it's nice when you can read it right there and all, but even better when you can see it and all.
And, trust me...HTML enabled is easily abused. Meta Refresh tags can really screw things up...as can iframe tags...and people trying to embed midi files and such into posts. It would get stupid anyway.
Besides, what you really need to use on a message board is in UBB tag form.
Name me one good thing you can do with HTML and not UBB code.

As others have said, HTML is way too easy to abuse. It will not be enabled for any other boards.

He asked for a good thing. All that stuff is either unneeded or provided with UBB code. Of course what is good is all relative in this situation.

We really don't need font color. Although fun, it too can be abused. I don't have the time to highlight posts just because someone was being funny and used the same color as the background. As a mod, I would have to check them.

Well that's really too bad Silky. If the UBB gets font colors it would be a option I would hound to be turned on until MD or JA got so tired of it they'd turn it on.

so what you do is you have it as a button and than they choose a color that ist the same as the background because the backgroud would not be available
and if someone abuses it you kick them out (and change the color to a readable one)

There is no way to activate certain codes. It's either all or nothing and so it will remain off.

yes I do like to ask for things...but really can we get more UBB, we got more smilies but not anymore UBB and no one even uses the ones that are there (besides URL, bold, italics, quote and image)

I used the list just the other day...I use the code one every now and then...all of those on there have a purpose.
