My Caption Contest thread has been deleted from the Cantina. I went looking for it and all links to it in the search function say that the thread does not exist. Why? How? Who? Cry? Yes I think I will thank you.
I hereby make a formal request, if this thread was deleted due to the new "thread" rule, that the 2,500 post rule be reapplied and we stop the maddess.
If this is a victim of this new rule then I'm pretty ticked off. If we have a space problem 1. reapply the 2,500 post rule across the board 2. prune the forums to page 5 of each forum every month (for those that need it). 3. Hack the hell out of the archives!
In the Lando and SWC the page 5 prune takes you back about one whole month consistently it seems. In the Cantina page 10 is one month back thereabouts.
I mean, man, if this is because of this new rule... what's next? No pictures? Deleting everythread that turns into chit chat? I mean this is insane if it is the case.

I think the problem with only pruning back according to page number (page 5=1 month) was that if there are several large threads on page 1, they never get pruned.
The thread limit of 2,500 post means that when they hit that they are locked and deleted and restarted if desired.
This is a message board. It's supposed to be fun.
If a thread reaches a high post count it is either 1. a flame war 2. a good thread or 3. people just posting to up their counts.
Obviously mods lock and delete flame wars. Mandard has further explained his concept of "the new thread rule" and he wishes only to stop the moronic upping of post counts and excessive consecutive posting sprees.
If it is a good thread... a popular thread which has gotten large because of that then it should not be deleted until it reaches the 2,500 thread limit. Then it can be reposted if desired.
This in addition to montly prunes, makes sense.
What doesn't make sense, again if this was the case here, for a good thread to be deleted well within what should be the limit of 2,500 posts.

Dude, "Caption Contest" got itself ignored all the way back to page ten when I found it on my big-ass-thread-annihilating spree the other night, and many of the pic links weren't working anyway.
Start a new one. Unless you already have, in which case I'm entering as fast as I can.
