This Thread was unjustly closed, and should be re-opened. It was a perfectly legitimate topic closed by a moderator who is apparently a disgruntled LOTR fan.
I know this because he allows this Thread and this thread were allowed to remain open.

The moderator is free to close any topic he/she feels deems closing, within reason of course. The reasoning here is that everyone is fed up with SW vs. LOTR threads. They're annoying now. Some LOTR vs. SW topics can be gotten away with in Prequels for reasons I don't quite agree with, but the LOTR forum seems to be sticking with the idea of if you want to talk about Star Wars, go to a Star Wars forum.

They do not! I've sited 2 Starwars/LOTR topics in the LOTR board!
My topic was about discussing Gollum. The 2 other threads I sited are the ones comparing the franchises. Those are allowed to stay open simply because the moderator agrees with what they have to say.

Hmm...well then I guess I stand corrected. If it were me I'd just end the nonsense and have Star Wars threads in the Star Wars forums and LOTR threads in the LOTR forums, I don't get why the mods are laying down to this SW vs LOTR stuff and allowing any such threads in the other forums. But that's just me.

Lol - this is so funny! Maybe the Jar Jar vs Gollum thread was closed because it was a pointless argument that could only result in heaps of insults being poured upon your fanboy head?

R5's post and the Lucas/Hobbit one presented issue for debate (the R5 thread has been unusually civil so far), whereas you were just flaming LOTR fans by accusing them of double standards when comparing Gollum to Jar Jar. Gollum is an important (and complex) character, whereas Jar Jar is (for better or worse) a clown (in the classic [non pejorative] sense). Different criteria. End of argument. etc. The thread was closed because it broke the LOTR forums rules and was degenerating into a 'bash the fanboy' competition...
Anyway, there is already an active CGI character thread/poll in prequels (4th thread).
I would rather support an 'inferior' product than subject my body to the humiliation of supporting an inferior brain.

There was no flame by me in my post. If you consider critism of LOTR flames, then LOTR fans are even more desparate than I thought.
There was no rule broken, and there is no such rule preventing that thread from remaining open.
You LOTR fans can't even defend your franchise without using insults.

FemurBone, you're one of those members who don't seem to understand that how you say something is often just as important as what you say. Starting a thread for a real discussion and starting a thread to butt heads with everyone who disagrees with you are not the same thing. I'll grant you that there's nothing inherently wrong with a Gollum vs Jar Jar thread. But the way you went about it was just begging for the thread to be closed. You're a SW fan who doesn't like LOTR and I can see little reason for you starting that thread except to cause trouble. Keep it in Prequels, please.
