Has anyone considered changing the Lord of the Rings forum title to simply Middle-Earth? I did a quick search of feedback, and I don't see any thread about this, so pardon me if it's already been discussed here.
I just thought it might be something to consider. It's difficult to discuss LOTR without incorporating information from Tolkien's other stories from Middle-Earth, and The Silmarillion seems to get referenced occasionally in discussions about LOTR. And, I'm sure sometime about a year-or-so from now, some attention will turn to the possibility (even if its just a slight one) of a movie version of The Hobbit. A whole new batch of rumors and speculation could pop up from that, even if it is ultimately just wishful thinking.
So, as I see it, what originally began as a forum intended to let people discuss the upcoming LOTR films -- the rumors, the casting decisions, production info, etc. -- has now evolved into a more comprehensive exploration of Middle-Earth in all its incarnations.
Just food for thought. More like a snack, actually.

I think its a good idea. It gives the forum more of an identity. Like the Wrestling Arena, Everyone knows wrestling gets talked about but everyone knows its the arena...

Yeah, I was thinking of something to this effect a while ago.
I am all for it.

"The middle earth board" just doesnt have the same ring to it (honest - no pun intended - really!) I think the current name's kinda stuck and how would changing it affect day to day business?
Thanks for the thought though.

No, no, no! It wouldn't be called "The Middle Earth Board".
It would simply be called "Middle Earth". Much better sounding than the former.

I still dont buy it. The whole mythos behind Tolkien and the huge new fan base created by the movies is all in regards to the Lord of the Rings.
Sorry, but it's a superficial change and I just dont see what difference it would make.

I think we'll stick with LOTR. I see your point, but as far as I can tell, I don't think there's any confusion about the scope of the board. Even from the beginning, there have always been plenty of threads that went beyond LOTR to the Hobbit and the Silmarillion. I agree that the title may be technically misleading, but practically speaking, I think "Lord of the Rings" is more recognizable than "Middle-Earth" when referring to the world of Tolkien.
