To help streamline the UBB a little, we're going to do a pruning of our member database. All members that were registered before January 1, 2002 that have less than 5 posts will be deleted. Any names that have more than 5 posts will not be deleted. Any names registered after January 1, 2002 will not be deleted.

So this really shouldn't affect anyone, unless you've got an old alias you want to keep that you never posted with. If so, better post with it by this weekend. The pruning will happen on Saturday or Sunday.

Excellent idea, thanks for the heads' up.

Speaking of "head's up", is it heads' up, heads up, or head's up? Since it obviously refers to more than one person, it can't be head's... oh whatever.

At least this won't hurt my standing on the all-time post list. I shall still maintain my top ten ranking. [Thumbs Up]

And it's the middle one tech.

Sports Jeopardy - the hardest sports game on the web ... well not really. Game 23, a Champions-only edition won by Darth Wicket!

will this make our member numbers lower? Either way I like this idea.

I doubt it. Rather, it will cut out the members numbers that do not have 5 posts. So, members 2043,2303,5959, and 4944 might be cut out, but I imagine our member number will remain the same. I may be wrong, but I don't think the programming is quite complicated enough to automatically drop our member numbers once others are deleted.

But, yes, it is a very good idea. From what I have seen, 33% or more of the members registered have less than 5 posts. Not telling how much bandwidth this wastes. There is no point in keeping the names either, since only 1 out of every 5,000 would probably ever visit Nightly again.

Just delete all the members with less than 20 posts...

Being religious is like living in North Korea. You have endless opportunities to praise the leader and thank him for everything. However, you can defect from North Korea or just die. With religion you have to go thanking him long after you're dead.

Right. Members have been deleted in the past, so if it affected our member numbers, everyone would've noticed it long before now.

And for the record, there's no apostrophe anywhere in the phrase "heads up"...although if you're using the phrase in an objective context, it'd be proper to hyphenate it.

Member numbers will not change.

And we'll make sure we're very careful in the pruning. Although now you mention it, perhaps there might be some "accidents" that happen to certain users... [Wink]
