why did that get shut? ryn replied then 10 posts later shut it? who complained? it was just a bit of harmless fun! i mean i post about drinking nearly every day! and if i lived in holland it would be legal! so who's idea was it to close it? not even a pm to say why properly! it's pure rubbish euro can post about drugs til the cows get stoned and i mention weed once and it gets shut
i've posted about takin "e" and coke before and no-ones bothered and a thread about a bit of puff get closed? quadruple standards all the way
if i was saying "hey kids smoke weed it makes you clever" i would understand but i did mention it made me a paranoid wreck so it served as a warning to kiddies

I agree with the notion that closing it without at least a post of disapproval isn't the way to go.
But it's long been the Nightly stance that talk about illegal contraband and other reality altering drugs is a no no. I don't know the case with Euro, but usually a simple mild reference to such a thing gets by without much of a moderator fuss.
This was posted after I closed boba's thread, so I figured a PM was a moot point.
Has this "policy" been applied inequitably? Of course it has, I admit. I'm trying to improve.

I don't think this was unfair. On the scale of "things we worry about", a topic about using drugs ranks higher than individual posts in otherwise unrelated threads.
Having said that, the drug thread "policy" was initially aimed at a series of threads in Lando that got rather explicit in their descriptions of drug use and could have been taken as encouraging it. This is certainly a no-no. On the other end, people sometimes make passing mentions of drugs and as long as it's nothing more than that, we're not going to get bent out of shape over it. As D-Ray said, I think mild references are tolerable. But in between there's a grey area and it can sometimes go either way. I wouldn't have been terribly upset if the thread had been left open, but I do think it's justifiable to leave closed.

Oh, I'm not going to deny participating in anything like that. Nor mentioning on occassion. I can't. That'd be dishonest.
However, I don't promote/endorse it either.
In addition, I don't think other boards should have any real bearing here. And vice-versa.
