It blows!

Is there something wrong it? It used to work failry well, but every time I use it lately I get random results.

I was looking for a thread from a few months ago about the new members of the Episode 3 art department. I know the phrase "art department" was int he thread title, so I entered that in, selected "subject heading only" and did a search. I t came back with a handful of threads that had niether of theirs words in their subject lines.

Am I doing something wrong?

Doing exactly what you said, I get no results.

The thread that I remembered was about Eric Tiemens and Ryan Church, so I did a search on them and found this:

http://www.nightly.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=023178

As far as I know, the search function works as intended. It's always been accurate for me. If you can find a thread with "art department" in the subject, I'd be curious to know since the search function clearly isn't coming up with anything.

Also, if somebody wants to be helpful and try searching Prequels for "art department" in subject only, I'd be interested to know if it's returning false positives for anybody else.

Ummm....I don't know what this means....but a giant iceberg just winked at me.

I've had trouble searching the Directory once or twice via members' names. It usually works fine for me, but a month or so ago, a search for "fonzie" failed to turn up DARTH FONZIE. Luckily he posted on the Cantina Birthday Thread long ago, so I was able to locate him manually. But it's happened to me once or twice with other old members, too (ones I know haven't been pruned, and was eventually able to locate through other means).

I've also noticed that words between bold or italic tags often don't show up in search results, either.

Who know-- maybe I am remembering incorrectly. But that link is close enough to the one I was looking for-- so thanks, Mandard.

It's odd-- the search engine works randomly for me. Sometimes I get perfect results, sometimes no results, more often than not I get random results. Hmmmm.

It's probably based on the level of crack you are smoking at the time. [Wink]

I thought for Tank it could have been a random thing because the following might have happened (it happens to me once in a while):

You enter your search item (art department)

You select the forum to search within.

You click on the Entire Message window to shange it to Subject Only but before you click off it, leaving this drop down menu active, perhaps by mistake you scroll up on your mouse right before you hit enter and it reverts to Entire Message.

BTW, I got no results ......

If you search with the thought of Virtual Hot Dog Stand in your mind, then the search of what you are searching for will come true... you must have faith in the stand for If you have faith in the DAWG, you will be ABSOLVED!
