To specifically address your question, the board is used for mod/admin business that doesn't need to be dealt with publicly. Troll reports, countdowns, prunings, banners, template changes, vacations and other leaves of absence, etc, etc. If there's a problem with a member, then obviously it's going to be talked about. But I'm very keen on not making it a "gossip about the members behind their backs" board. It's a functional board, not an entertainment board, so by necessity it remains rather boring.
