Sadly, upon hearing the oncoming depopulating of Nightly, I have set out to create a near replica, but with a dash of myself in it. I've started one at proboards and it seems close to what nightly looks like, but the icons are a bit too child-ish (animal crossing-esque). Then I spotted the "Nightly recommends focalhosting for you hosting needs" deal at the top.
Unlike the others, I am willing to pay up to around 20 bucks a year for my message board. Is Focalhosting what you use, or are there better ones around?
Also, would you mind if I used a couple of icons (couple of smileys and a few folder icons) in my site? Anything you have to say, I will be taking notes and listening intently before realizing that you can't hear text responses.

Focalhosting is a good host and I'd recommend them. Of course, there's only a slightly less than a billion hosting places out there, so it's always worth your time to shop around.
And lots of people use our icons, so there's no reason you can't either. Just make sure save them on your server and not directly use our files because that steals our bandwidth.

Pretty much, yeah.
dragonfly, search the internet for some good servers. We use HostGator at the other place. They seem to have a good reliability. If the server fails, they refund the money you've paid. I saw several examples of it. For $15.00 a month, you can get 1GB of storage space and 25GBs of bandwidth. Which is a LOT more than most message boards will ever need.

instead of constantly trying to push the boundaries of what is legally allowed and (rightfully) getting edited and/or banned, a small handful of im friends set up a semi-private 18+ board mostly to cater to things that don't fly here.
popular forums like nightly need restrictions to keep things flowing smoothly and make younger posters feel welcome. we don't want that responsibility. we don't want to have to police a humungous forum. we want to keep our hosting plan small. and we DON'T want nightly to flounder (as ridiculous as that notion is anyway). we all still post here.

I've posted more at Nightly since the other board has been up than I posted for a month before it. I'm able to loosen up and get out most of my agression there, so I am not as bored with posting here.
