Infopop has released the first beta version of UBB.classic 6.7. This version comes with a few new public features.
Topic subscription: you can now get email notifications of new replies to a topic that you have replied to (previously you had to be the topic starter in order to receive these notifications). All your topic subscriptions will be available in your profile, you can edit or delete them there.
Quick reply: a reply box will now appear at the very end of the actual topic page if you simply want to make a quick reply. The reply graphic and link will still remain on the page if a user wants to click on that to access the buttons for graemlins, adding ubb code, unchecking the signature, etc.
Category enhancements: Admins can add descriptions for each category if they choose to. Categories can now be collapsed as well.
Signature preview: I'm happy about this one as it was myself and Greg Hard who invented this hack a few years ago. It's now finally being added. After you update your profile you get a message saying "your profile has been changed" and it displays what your profile looks like, signature and all. So no more sig test threads are needed.
The 'My Profile' page has been given a face lift. You can now review the registration agreement and view your recent posts, etc.
That's it. There may be one or two new features in upcoming releases, but I don't know what these are yet, so don't ask. Since this is the first beta version, there might be some bugs out there. If you find a bug please report it IN THIS THREAD ONLY. Thank you.
i just got back on nightly, and first thing i see: the Quick Reply. this is SOOOO much more useful!

Yea, I've been wondering why we hadn't had the quick reply before.

I was actually about to start a thread on the 'quick reply' feature. As in a thread saying we should get it... this place read my mind... kinda cool, yet scary...

Something strange is going on. All of the dates are gone!!!! Instead of a date/time stamp for people's posts, it reads...
"posted 0 2_3"
What the heck is this????
EDIT: Nevermind, I fixed this problem... it had something to do with server time, and my user preferences. I went in and reset my preferences and it fixed the problem.

A few notes here: The quick reply box can be turned off if anyone doesn't want to use it. Just go into your preferences and uncheck it. Also, if you start typing in the quick reply box and suddenly decide you need the full reply page, you can click "Full Reply Form" and it will preserve your text. Very nifty.
Another minor new feature is that when you login, it gives you the option of automatically logging you out when your browser session ends (uncheck Remember Me). This may be helpful for people who use computer labs at school, library, etc or anyone who doesn't want to worry about somebody coming along afterwards and using their account.

That's a nice feature, since I occassionally login at the library.

This may not be related to the new features, but I've had trouble getting access since about the time the new features were added. It comes up with "this page cannot be displayed" on about every second page. Twice I've tried to reply to something and when I clicked on add reply, it said "cannot be displayed" again. I hit refresh several times and eventually the page came up, but my response had disappeared into the ether. Actually, I'm probably wasting my time typing this one too.
(Yay, it worked.)

What internet browser and version are you using? You may need to clear your temporary internet files (tools > internet options > delete files) or clear your cookies (there's a button on the 'my profile' page).
I doubt it's anything on our end, as we fixed our nameservers quite a while ago which stopped the access problems.

When you first posted it, I saw that it was like that too. But it seems like it worked itself out. Probably just a brief glitch.

Apparently it's a security precaution that prevents somebody from implementing malicious code in a URL. I couldn't tell you any more than that, but it seems to be there for a reason.

I've noticed that when I view the directory by # of posts, sometimes the Member's name isn't displayed. Especially with Mod's.

I was about to post that. I thought maybe because they are online (because Maker and Jacen don't have their names visible, but I know it's them because their member # and other information in the directory is) ......
