Could we start a new forum for writers? It would be nice to have a place to discuss and trade techniques, help others with stories, and generally talk about progress with our works. While it could be placed in the Books forum, I feel that this is one of those separations much like the divisions involving the Star Wars forums; while it could go under one forum, it's convenient to have a separate forum to be over-run by us crazy writers!

Ooh, you just missed this. We had a writer's forum here for 4 years, but after a long run, it started suffering from lack of activity and we closed it last spring. Sorry.

Yep, you just missed it. Feel free to post your stories in the Cantina (or any of our community forums) and perhaps even start a thread for people who enjoy writing.

Any and all writing IS being accepted (AND wanted, AND encouraged) in the Books forum.
Major changes are on the horizon (but still just a bit out of sight at the moment), but if any writer wants to get a jump-start on it, I encourage you to do so and will gladly accept all reasonable submitions. (Those who remember the Writer's Guild know what I mean by reasonable.)
So sayeth the Books Forum Moderator. (aka. Me)

Considering that there's been support for the reintroduction of a forum to showcase one's creative outlet of the written word, I would personally like to see this succeed. And having it share a home with the current Books board just seems like a natural choice...what better opportunity to compare/contrast/discuss both professional and personal literature! I'm even giving thought to fleshing out some story ideas running loose in my head, especially since I wouldn't mind getting some constructive feedback from members who would take this concept seriously.
For those of you who have been voicing your interest here in Feedback, this is a good opportunity to show your support. Swing by the Books forum and look for Richcelt's "Change is in the air" thread. Right now, we're looking for some ideas for a new name for the board, one that will reflect the union of Books with a writer's showcase. We've seen some suggestions already, but a few more would help to round out the choice of selections. Posts: 8510 | From: Omaha, NE | Registered: Jun 1999

I will be there. I write poetry, though. Will that be sufficient for you and the Forum?

CC, if you haven't read, there's already been a forum for Writers, and it recently closed a few months ago, so you'll have to settle using the Books Forum (which isn't a bad thing!).
