I found this 'problem' when I am at work. I work at a hospital and all the computers are setup on a massive network and what-not. I am able to get onto nighlty and post, for a while, but then if I decide to refresh a page or just not browse for a while, the next time I try something this comes up:
EDIT: had a picture here - too big - read below.
(In case you cant read it, this is what it says.)
quote:The requested URL could not be retrieved --------------------------------- While trying to retrieve the URL: Http://www.nightly.net/
The following error was encountered:
Unable to determine IP address from host name for www.nightly.net
The dnsserver returned:
Server Failer: The name server was unable to process this query.
This means that:
The cache was not able to resolve the hostname presented in the URL. Check is the address is correct.
Your cache administrator is root.

Now, I know this is on my side, but I have no idea what this means, just wondering if you guys had any ideas.... It's just annoying when I am posting and all and cant anymore. Sometimes, after this comes up, later in my shift, like hours later, I try again and sometimes it works, but it usually doesnt. So I dont know...
Any ideas? Thanks.

I think some people have found that loading up nightly by IP address works but I wouldn't think that would give you anything more than the main page. Still, you can try using 66.129.95.185 and see if it does anything.

I logon to the network at my work and it asks me for password and name, then I can search anywhere on the net (mail restrictions etc..) but nightly works for quite some time, then whilst reloading a forum page or what-not, that comes up... I still dont know what it means... I am stoopid today!
But, how do I login with an IP?

Well, I can't speak to your DNS problem. I don't know what's happening. My guess is that the server your hospital network uses has messed-up DNS settings. But I have no real expertise in this area so you shouldn't take my word for anything.
To go directly to our IP address, just type in '66.129.95.185' as the URL. This should bring up our main page. But this may or may not help anything since even if you are able to load the main page, you probably won't be able to access anything else without getting the error again.
