what's with all of these new boards?? it's cool to have a couple new boards, but holy poo, we got like 6 new boards or so. and it seems most of them can get shoved right back into the lyceum, where they belong. i don't know, it just seems to break nightly up even more. it's bad enough nightly isn't as much of a community now as it use to be, and now we have all of these new boards, and i think it breaks up nightly even a little more.
and what's this about canning the bond board and not the buffy board?? i'm not knocking the buffy/angel board, but both those series are ****-canned, while bond is at least going to have another movie coming out.

I can at least help you out on this question. I guess Bond went for a long period of time without a single post. I can't remember the exact timeline that was given, but it was quite a while. That was what really broke the camel's back, I think, in that the admins noticed not only a subtraction of traffic, but no posts whatsoever, so decided to shut her down. Buffy/Angel is far from the most busy board here, but the traffic it does get is pretty steady. At least it has been. So it's really all about when a certain place begins to become barren rather how current the theme of the board is that's the deciding factor on when it gets the ax.

Also, the Lyceum was split up into many new boards for whatever reason.. so that is why they aren't all condensed into one logical Lyceum forum like you suggested.

Putting things into perspective, I totally understand what Davey is distraught about. The lack of the community aspect is indeed present. Everyone's interests are spread so thin. The connectivity has diminished some what. But, what happens, happens, the majority of the community must be happy, and that is all that counts...

For me, the high point of the year on Nightly was the "Downtime Forum". God, that was great.

I can understand that. That used to be what the Cantina was all about. Not much of a sense of community in the themed boards beyond its regulars, but back in the day it seemed that everyone visited the Cantina, and that's where the community got together as a whole and made up for the lack of it in the other boards. Now though, most posters stick to their preferred themed board. Maybe a gimmick is in order to try and get people to branch out again to the community forums (Well, the Cantina and SWC at least; Lando is lost to the dogs ) would be worth a shot. But then again what could be done to promote going there is beyond me.

Don't worry to much this is all a marketing plan by the powers that be; later this year you'll see the return of Classic Nightly
