I have often wished to know what a house system would work in a large-crowd setting such as nightly, or in a boy scout troop. As i am not on my boy scout committee- you have to be a parent and i don't count even though i'm almost eagle and am 16- i have not enjoyed the power to try the system.
I ask the higher powers this question: If a third misc forum is created into nightly existence, would the installation of a house system be in order?
For those who are wondering, a house system is a system of selection where one turns in an application of one's personality and hobbies, etc., to a specific sub group of one larger group. They are accepted or rejected by a majority vote of current members or a special electoral unit within the house. Once chosen, one owes one's allegiance to that particular house in which he or she has been elected.
The way i assume this could work for nightly's misc members is that a member could send in an applictaion to the house of their choice, choosing between houses Cantina, Lando, and the Other One, for lack of better names. Each house would be presided over by a specific admin whose personality basically reflects at least partially the specific attributes of his or her house. So an applicant could apply to the Cantina House, presided over by Mandard, for instance. Each house would have to be somewhat different. One could be more for more serious convos, the other for complete spontaniousness, the other for outside convos from other forums that need a home or something of the like.
The admins presiding over their original houses would select their house's members. Rejected applicants can appeal to other houses. After a significant amount of people apply to a particular house, a majority vote election, with the admin's vote being weighted a bit more than an average person's vote, could be instilled. One's house could be printed in special type such as the admins and mods and comm supporters have below their names. Houses could send out house letters monthly. Every six months or so there can be a debate between the houses as a sort of competition.
Note: giving one's "allegiance" to a specific house doesn't mean that one is restricted to it- just that the majority of misc posting would belong in that particular house, and that one is required to do a fair amount of posting in it. Becoming a member and then not posting in the house for three months and other various activities of the like would remove the person from his or her house. The decision to remove a person from his or her house is made by the admin presiding over the house; if the admin's vote is unpopular, it can be overturned by the majority vote (however since the admin is usually the voice of the house's collective opinions, then this occurance would be quite rare).

Because it's not appropriate for our type of community. It's that simple. That type of format/theme just has no place here.
But thanks for the suggestion.

It encourages a caste system and popularity games. Not the way we want to run our communities.

It's also problematic because I see myself more as Darkseid, Mandard as Highfather, JA as Metron, Rock as Orion, and Tank as Funky Flashman. Not that half of you understand any of that, but there you go.
