Without wanting to be too negative to what i think is a great way to promote interaction in the boards for necomers. The Master/Padawan thing seems to have gone somewhat mad of late - it may be worth while putting some "rules" up around it once again.

Unfortunately I lost track of SWC months ago. What'd I miss?

In scanning hastily over the SWC front page, it sure looks on the surface as if traffic has quintupled from where it was when Destiny took it over. Unless it's all post-count-upping drivel, that doesn't seem like a bad thing...although it's important to point out, for the sake of Conflict of Interest, that I'm a graduate of the Master/Padawan game myself.

Oh, sure, they wait until I'm totally blissfully married and too busy to stop by daily, and then they all decide to Go Wild. I see how it is. Hmph.

Hey we havent gone completely insane, some of us already are. I think that the whole master/padawan thign is fun. It has really made me be able to open up alot more to other nightly members. (Kudos to whoever first thoguth it up!)

The M/P game has been around since the board's inception--I'm a graduate of it from back in like 99-00, since SWC was how I got my start at Nightly. (I'm still really good friends with my master, actually--she doesn't post much at Nightly anymore, but we've stayed in touch and met several times in person. We're a success story! )
I think Ven's just saying that everyone should be careful not to let it completely overrun the board, and that there should be other content there, especially content that includes people who aren't involved in MP for one reason or another. This sort of happened several years before (a much more "involved" case, though) and it really wasn't a pretty sight. But at the same time, I don't think it's anywhere near the point it was right now...it just would be good to balance it out with general discussion as well.

Sorry I haven't been around the past few days, everyone. I was in Houston on a quick business trip for mission support training, so I didn't have much time to check in on Nightly.
I've noticed that M/P has come back with a vengence, but I didn't think it was getting out of hand... yet.
If you all really feel that groundrules need to be laid, please offer them.
Six and other admins, if this would be better off moved to SWC, feel free to do so. I'm comfortable having this discussion in either forum.

I think it's ironic that Mr. Ven comes here to complain about the m/p thing, when he has been known to spam nightly during nAw matches!
Splitting hairs I say!
I've always thought the master/padawan thing in SWC was sort of some creepy internet lesbian form of NAMBLA, but that's just me...
I don't see tons of threads all over disrupting nightly, andd in SWC there is no more abuse going on than what nAw does in the arena.
IF things get out of hand, the smackethdown shall happen!

You're still not forgiven Tank...

Tank just made sure this is going to Lando and not SWC.
I don't see anything getting out of hand, but I see Ven's point. If things get too chaotic, as if food fights weren't, then rules should be laid down as for the code of conduct or something. I dunno, I just watch and attend the parties..

Your not even part of it Destiny so why should it bother you? Yes certain guidelines should be in place but not in such a way that we cant have fun. I mean look at Lando, yes its an odd thread but there are no specific rules for it. Im not trying to create tension, but if a thread as innocent as the M/P thing should have rules then shouldnt Lando, shouldnt nAw in the Arena?

nAw has got lots of rules & nAw has been under fire before, hence why nAw is primarily RP & points system rules now isntead of post count rules.

Tank - for the record i am not complaining about the level of posting, nor am i in fact complaining at all. I just think it might have been wise to re-post the rules that were originally done around the MP thing, i know there used to be some!
On the "I Need a Master" thread - there was some discussion around what the rules were, can you have mroe than padawan, how long do you have to have been on the boards before starting, that sort of thing. Whilst those questions were answered - it'd be nice to not have to keep answering them.
I also take significant exception to your comments, i have never spammed Nightly for nAw - the only threads i have ever posted more than i would usually for the sake of nAw are things such as "The ABC game" etc. Threads which effectively encourage frivalous posting. There's probably no one more anti-spam than me. I was one of the major people pushing for nAw match rules to be changed!

Would it be helpful to make an official FAQ or rules and guidelines? That could be done fairly easily, either with a stickied thread or a link.
I'd be willing to work with some of the more active members, as well as some oldbies on developing something like that. I will admit that I don't participate, but I think I know the basics.
