I shouldn't have lashed out during that last batch of posts, yes, but I was getting a little annoyed with his antics, so I, regrettably, said what I said. But that matter, which is personal and, yes, has no business being on the board, has been taken to PM, thus I closed the thread. But I'm not going to re-open a thread that's on the brink like that.
AMU's going to go back on his little tirade and other people will go in and argue it to death and fight fire with fire. It's redundant. I've closed two threads today. There's one more that's looking towards that conclusion as well. I'd rather have us be *******s to him then have other members join in the fray and make a bad thread worse. So I closed it, probably not soon enough.
Sorry, but the policy here is not to allow total war, but rather contain the situation.
Making that choice is not a 'this' or 'that' situation. You have to take a lot of things into account. Sometimes there is no obvious solution but you have to make a choice. My choice was closing the thread. Sephi backs me up on that.
EDIT: Oh look, Sephi closed that one too.

I've got some time to kill before Thanksgiving festivities. I'll clean the thread up and re-open it, that cool with you Malice? I too hate to see that Revolution thread go down the tubes.

As far as I can tell, you just killed the primary thread about Nintendo's Revolution just because of a couple posts from AMU. Why punish everyone else who was contributing to that thread? Is there something wrong with the delete button?
There are better ways to deal with AMU than trying to beat him down with attacks. If you guys really can't deal with him without flaming, you should be coming to us for a ban. I still think a liberal use of the delete button would quietly get the job done, but if you guys insist on directly confronting him every time, then it's better to ban him than to have you guys crapping over your own board.
I agree that the thread should be cleaned up and re-opened. Edit: which it looks like Jason is already doing.

Wow, on the ball. I was just about to edit the post and suggest if taking the time to clean up the thread and then re-opening it would be alright and BAM look what you guys say.
Yeah, closing it only temporary probably is the better plan, but I figured I'd just close it down until everyone involved calmed down and cooler heads prevailed.
Thankfully, those heads are you two.

Usually, that's what we do, but often he comes to call and PMs me about it and that starts off something else entirely at times. Sometimes, the editing process finds us deleting half a thread, though.

Well obviously, there are times when a thread either can't be salvaged or wasn't worth having in the first place. But this wasn't one of those threads.
And you don't have to get into with him every time on PM or wherever. I'm a big supporter of saying everything I want to say once and then not replying unless there's a good reason to. Long back-and-forths generally don't accomplish much.

Yeah, I say my peace in as civil a manner as I can, say 'Thanks,' and be done with it. I'll answer if he has any questions or what have you, but otherwise, I just ignore it.
When he and I do go at it, which is a whole lot more rare these days, it does usually end up as that neverending, main subject drowning in uselessness, type of conversation. But that's more often in PM as I try not to get involved anymore. When I do, I get sucked in pretty bad, unfortunately.
Sorry for the mess, guys.
