Spoiler Warning.... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This episode has definitely progressed Sam's character. We find out that he not only has these visions of things to come, but he can also move things telepathically. He still has virtually no control over either ability, but the premise is pretty cool none the less. We also find out the tormented antagonist of this episode (who's name I forget, but whatever) had his mother killed the same way Dean and Sam's mother was. This brings about the conclusion that obviously the same "thing" that killed the Winchester's mother killed this boy's mother too, and that somehow Sam and this boy (who by the way killed himself at the end of tonight's show) were somehow connected. - - - - - - - - - - - - End Spoilers
So, overall, a pretty good episode. I'm glad I've stuf with this show so far, and I'll definitely be around for next season if they can keep up the same quality of "horror" and adventure they have so far.

Max was one seriously tortured young man. Interesting that they went with a freaky looking kid who could act instead of a pretty boy. Good choice.
Shadow Ghost, it occurs to me that Sam's telekinesis is motivated by anger. Dean's been in danger before, but in Sam's vision he was actually shot. Then the chest moved. Think about it. Max was pretty proficient with the telekinesis...and Max had every reason to be filled with rage.
Good point by Dean--why didn't the demon just take the kids if he wanted them? Did the demon bestow the powers? More questions.
Okay, I can't have been the only person who noticed that Dean bristled when Sam said their father was the difference between them being normal or turning out like Max. I'm thinking two things: first--Dean's anger and disappointment with his father is increasing (did Dean get any love from dad or just orders?) and second--that Dean was really disappointed that Sam didn't say he (Dean) made the difference. "All things considered," was an odd thing for Dean to repeat, no? Sam said "all things considered" he'd turned out normal; Dean bristles, gets quiet and repeats "all things considered." There was a great deal going on there.
Much better than last week's. The two women who wrote this episode also wrote "Faith." They'd better keep them on the writing staff. They capitalize well on the brothers' relationship. I love that TPTB play to this program's greatest strength, the fraternal dynamic.

Tonight's episode:
quote:The Benders
Tuesday, Feb 14 9/8c
Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) head to Minnesota where a young boy (guest star Ryan Drescher) witnesses a man vanish into thin air. Upon searching for clues, Sam is abducted by what he assumes is a supernatural being, and Dean is left to search frantically for his brother. However, both are stunned when they realize the kidnappers are human, and using the captives as human prey for a twisted hunting expedition.

I'm having an acid flashback of Ned Beatty running in his underwear squealing like an animal. That'll date me. I'll be impressed if any of you youngsters get it.

Yeah, they made a reference to it in the show. That was a seriously f*cked up episode.

That was sickly enjoyable. Give Dean props for not hurling when he found the jar of teeth and ran into the pelvic bone hanging from the ceiling.
That's gohna hurt...... Skeevy little brat. Isn't it interesting that when they cast a female guest star over 30, she can act and all the 20 somethings are dipsy doodles?

I was thunderstruck when all the sarcasm fell away and Dean flat out told Sam he was lonely; that's why he went to get him at Stanford.
Meg's a b*tch but damn if she isn't a fine foil for the boys. Papa Winchester is sexy as all get out and I don't trust him for a minute. That man did something wrong to bring all this wrath on them.
Dude, next time you wanna get laid, pick a chick who isn't buckets-o-crazy Sam was thinking with the downstairs brain.

I loved when Sam told Dean he was going to follow Meg.
"Yeah, you are!" Dean & I agree, that boy needs to think with his downstairs brain more.
Dean, he thinks with it enough.

Man, how the hell did Meg survive that fall through the window!
I should add that I missed like the first 15-20 min. of the show.

Her demonic powers enabled her to survive, I suppose. The girl drinks blood, you know. She is an excellent character as a foil for the brothers and their "good" activities.
I still think something was "off" about John's appearance at this time. He's hiding something. I'm starting to think that Dean, even though he wanted dad to come back, told him that it wasn't safe for him to come with them more for Sam's sake than for John's. Sometimes I wonder if John didn't go in league with certain demons at one point to get the killer of his wife and now they're after him for reneging on their deal or something like that.

Bump to talk about Thursday's episode.
Great use of Blue Oyster Cult music! Although if I were Sam, and Dean had just woke me up to the lyrics 'Fire of Unknown Origin took my baby away', I woulda ripped his head off. The ongoing pranks between Sam and Dean were hilarious, especially close to April Fools Day. Okay, I claim bragging rights...Did anyone else recognize the symbol on the wall of that shack as being from a B.O.C. album? Those ghosthunter hacks were hilarious! Okay I just used the same were twice but, eh, sue me. Nice plot twist in the ghost. I liked Sam's existential comments about the other creepy things they've hunted, only existing because people believed in them.
Thought you all would get a kick out of this. It's the actual working website featured in the episode! http://www.hellhoundslair.com/

I did. I spit my coffee out on my keyboard when I watched Dean put that itching powder in Sam's underwear. TPTB struck gold with those two. You can't create chemistry. It's either there or not. Oh, is it ever there with these two. The hilarious thing is that it's Jared who's the evil troublemaker on set. It isn't Jensen. When they were at Paley Festival in the Q&A with the powers-that-be, people remarked how their RL personalities flip flop with the characters. In fact, they wanted very much for Jensen to play Sam. Jensen was offered the part of Sam first, but begged them to let him audition for Dean. Jared's the one who would stick a spoon in someone's mouth on set while they slept. In fact, Jared has stuck a spoon in someone's mouth and taken their picture while they were napping on set. Jared is NOT Sam. Not by a country mile.
I don't know if anyone realizes this, but this Thursday's episode, "Something Wicked," is written by none other than Daniel Knauf--the creator/head writer of HBOs outstanding Carnivale. It's about a terrible secret of Dean's from childhood. Kripke getting Knauf to pen an episode for Supernatural is quite the coup. This is excellent news. Oh my word, if they could only get him permanently. The man lives for supernatural themed, moody characterization.

Something Wicked....best episode yet. Papa Winchester needs a kick in the gonads for the way he treated Dean. Contrast that with the kindness Dean showed Michael, and it's pretty easy to see who's the best Winchester man.
