I really dislike how Jor-El, a man that has been dead for about 20 years, can give and take powers away from someone. It is just ridiculous.
Plus, I thought superman's power's came from our environmental make-up or something, right? That's why all of the Kryptonians didn't survive the explosion, because they weren't invincible.

I know that, I just don't like how his dead father can do it. Oh, well. But, of course, what I like is not necessarily what everyone else likes, so maybe it is good for the show.

I'm caught up now on Smallvile as I've bought every series on dvd and dl all of series 4 and 2 things i've noticed are that all of Lanas bfs are either insane or end up dead and also that every key character that has learned Clarks secret has forgot it, left or died (besides his parents).

Anyhow, tonight's episode was ok. Clark still without his powers though, that's kind of stupid. I agree with Delorean that seeing as ouor yellow Sun is supposed to give Superman his powers, how the hell can Jor-El take them away!!?
Still, this season looks to be going in a better direction that the last season did.

* normalClark and Chloe Sullivan, Agent of T.O.R.C.H., up against Electric Mickey Rourke and Gimp Force Two. I kindasorta liked seeing new villains, but I wish their backstories hadn't felt wafer-thin.
* Chloe knows that Lex's up to something, and Lex knows that Chloe's up to something, and Chloe knows that Lex knows that she knows, and he knows that she knows that he knows...but now that he's made Clark bleed, Lex doesn't know what to think about what he knows, or at least what he thinks he thinks he knows, when in fact he really knows. So he thinks he doesn't know he really knows. Okay, got it.
* The solution to the Kent family rebuilding: FEMA! With Lex pulling their strings, of course. I wonder if Lex got FEMA to rebuild all of Smallville or just the Kent farm. And I wonder what the neighbors must think that they still have to wait months to move on with their lives and livelihoods while Farmer Jon enjoys his government's favoritism. If I were one of his farmer neighbors I'd be up in arms...unless I was also one of the same neighbors who keep at arm's length from the Kents because their boy got somethin' about him that ain't right.
* Did anyone else roll their eyes and guffaw at the same time when Clark and Lana both claimed to be virgins? I wouldn't dream of reacting so harshly to someone claiming the same thing in Real Life...but these two?
* Lionel gets only one scene, and it's in his own padded cell at Belle Reve. I assumed they'd let him continue to wander around and deliver garbled foreshadowings like the Bajoran Prophets. But if Lionel's going to have an extended stay at Belle Reve...how long can it be before he's the next guinea pig in line for another super-power experiment?
* Where's Brainiac? Why isn't Brainiac here? It'd be so much nicer if Brainiac were here.

* Ya know, if Clark had just figured out to cut the power first, he could have avoided that pointless trip to Luthercorp in the first place.
* On the other hand, then Lex would still be thinking Clark is some closeted mutant, so I guess it worked out.
* I was able to finish the sentence of a character at least three times in this episode. Is that bad?

How is Lex not going to know who Superman is the day he appears when he has suspected for some time that Clark is invulnerable (and possibly more)?
Smallville sucks and you know it sucks. Quit wasting your time.

I really like the characters and enjoyed the first few seasons...but the plots they've been put through over the last season or so haven't endeared me overmuch. My own prejudices suspect that the drop in quality might be attributable to the separate departures of Mark Verheiden and Jeph Loeb, the two contributing writer/producers who had actual comics experience. Without their input, we're left with Millar & Gough and a bunch of TV guys alone against the WB execs...

Tonight's episode was very good. I thought Kristin's acting was good when Clark died on the table. Not so much a good job by his parents though.
Not that I don't like the flying effects or anything, but what happened to the "no tights, no flight" rule the producers had? Did they just throw that completely out the window?

I've heard a few comments about people saying skip the first two seasons. I just wanted to post my favorite episodes thus far:
Season 1 - Pilot (1) & Metamorphosis (2) -- these first two episodes really make the debut.
Leech (12) -- Clark loses his powers. And the guy who gets them throws a car into his house.
Nicodemus (15) -- Lana gets freaky!
Tempest (21) -- hey, it's the finale.
Honorable Mentions: All because of Chloe -- Hug (11), our first glimpse of Chlark. Crush (19), Clark jealous for Chloe. Obscura (20) -- Clark saves Chloe!
Season 2 - Vortex (1) hey, it's the season premiere! Heat (2) -- Krista Allen -- HELLO!! -- plus, heat vision?!
Red (4) -- Bad Clark!
Skinwalker (10) -- finally, a viable love interest for Clark as Superboy!
Rush (14) -- Bad Clark + Bad Chloe = Hot Lovin!
Rosetta (17) -- Christopher Reeve. Need I say more?
Calling (22) and Exodus (23) -- great wrap-up of Season 2 with juicy Smallville mythos.
Season 3 - Exile (1) -- Clark and John get it ON!!! Phoenix (2) -- these were great seeing Clark living as bad Clark and being a bad@ss!!!!
Relic (6) -- mythos!
Obsession (14) -- see Skinwalker.
Talisman (19) -- recovers Skinwalker Native American mythos.
Honorable Mention: Slumber (4) -- that new chick was tasty! And Clark and Lana go skinny dipping! Truth (18) -- Pulp Fiction. That's where it's at.
Season 4 - Crusade (1) -- you'll believe a man can fly...
Blank (19) -- Clark rediscovers his powers, with Chloe.
Commencement (22) -- biggest season finale YET!
Honorable Mention: Transference (6) -- beginning of Good Lionel arc. Jinx (7) Mxyzptlk. Onyx (17) -- end of Good Lionel arc. Spell (8) and Sacred (15) only because of showing where Lana / Isobel comes into play.
Season 5: All three, with the exception of Clark's all-to-easy dispatching of Kryptonian criminal elements.

I've had this argument with my friends and it's actually Impulse not the flash, hence the references to him being from the future and his name being Bart Allen and not Barry.

Last night's episode was pretty good. Man though, the writing is really going down hill...
Oh, and it still pisses me off some of the stuff Jor-El is doing (AKA stripping Clark of powers, and just the general feel I get from his "character")...that's me though.
I don't know, if this were any otehr show, besides something to do with a comic book character I probably would've dropped it by now

Personally, I think that they should have kept Alicia around (nutty blonde chick who could teleport).
Really, her episodes were the only time that Smallville was worth watching last year. It would have been cool to see Clark involved with a genuinely troubled girl for an extended amount of time.

I hope so. it was a ****ing stupid idea in the first place.
I do, however, think they should save the tights for the series finale.

Anyone tonight's the night for a new Smallville, and this week we get to see Aquaman make his appearance. I do think it's really cool to have these other DCU characters making appearances (I really dug the Flash episode) but I hope they can find better characters to introduce down the line than Aquaman...I hate Aquaman
Tom Welling said in a recent interview with Wizard magazine that they're pushing for an appearance by a young Bruce Wayne, which I think would be pretty cool to see.
