I think Iowahawkes is right; it was the info. that Walt Kummnings was in fact working with the terrorists, but i could be wrong.

This was a pretty freakin cool episode. Glad Jack was able to catch Bierko. I'm so glad that Audrey was not another 'mole', and that Jack and her look like they'll finally get together. I do enjoy how they find a way to have convincing emotional moments with the main characters in the middle of a crisis.

The preview had a shocker in it...the first Lady's assistant is in on it?! Wow.

Also, The actress that plays Audrey is already signed to star in a new tv series next fall so I suspect Audrey will either be killed off or at least disappear for a while after this season. Her and Jack may simply break up.

Of course, the whole Audrey thing was a red harring, but the question still remains about who set her up, my guess good old dad. And Bierko ( Julian Sands) is the man, in his interview with TV Guide, Sands compared Bierko to a snake, and that is exactly what he is. My favorite scenes were the confrontations between Jack, Stana and Karen Hayes ( Hell, she even brought up Nina) and Bierko. That repelling helicopter scene was the bomb..... I'm not sure what I make of Shari, she looks a little too young to be working with CTU or Homeland Security...... Audrey in medical can't be good.

'Is he involved?' Jack
'Oh, Jack. You know him better than that. You worked with him. He would never do anything outside the law and neither would I.' Audrey

( Bet your life on that Audie?)

'Now we have a police escort to the target, the curfew won't be a problem.' Vladimir

'He's using you. He wanted you to get inside my head. It worked. Now I'm....... upset.' Jack

( Would Jack really have blown her brains out? Umm...)

It was confirmed that Robocop set her up, when Jack went back to ask the Russian chick.

That episode was the most unbelievable load of crap I've seen from the show. The natural gas idea was horrid.

Are you referring to the way the terrorists wanted to release the gas into through gas lines, or the way Jack stopped the gas from being released by planting some C4 explosives??
I'll agree that the former was pretty stupid. How do you stop gas from released into the air by planting an explosive??

Still, it was a good episode with all Audrey interrogation stuff. That new MAndy chich has got to go! She looks like she should be working at The Gap not a CTU programmer.

I'm with Jawa on this one, I was just trying to think of what kind of **** would happen if you blew up a natural gas plant in the middle of LA, I mean probably less damage than a nerve gas attack but still, this season just isn't doing it for me, a big let down, but I'll wait to pass judgement until the end of the season...

The whole scenerio of the episode was lame.

Issue #1:Introducng the Sytox into the gas supply. My first thought was how? The canisters are not equiped with the propper fittings that would allow introduction into a gas line or tank.

Issue #2:Issue #1 is taken care of by just walking into an empty tank and activating the canisters. I work around this king of equipment and these tanks do not just have a dor you can walk through. There are sealed manways that are secured by several dozen bolts that have to be removed before hoisting the portal covering away. It takes a couple of hours. Maybe they do things diferently in L.A.

Issue #3: The pressure thing. If the Syntox would become inert under the current presure the lines held, wouldn't it have been easier to just re-presurize the lines than to blow up the whole plant?

Issue #4: Fire destroying the Syntox agent. If fire destroys the Syntox, then putting into a natural gas line would not kill nearly as many people as the terrorists believe. Most of the applications that Natural gas lines serve end in fire anyway, pilot lights, water heaters, stoves, etc.

There were more, but it's been a week since I watched it and my ire has subsided.

So yeah, when they started to make it obvious that it "was the VP" this episode, I started to think, "umm, red herring maybe," so I made a passing joking comment to my bf, watch it be Logan.

Never thought that'd be true though, lol. Wow.

That was a crazy showing of his actual character. The whole time we've known Logan, he's been a bumbling mess, and in that short 20 seconds there was a lot of darkness. I like it. heh. But yeah, I can't wait to see how this works itself out. Is Martha involved too, and what really is the VPs deal with the whole Marshal Law thing. Lots of loose ends to tie up.

gotta give props to D.B. Woodside ( Wayne Palmer) and Sandrine Holt ( Evelyn Martin) Finally, Evelyn gets some screentime! How awesome is Christopher Henderson? I mean really! The man hit his own guy with his car? Did I see that right? Henderson wasting his own goon with his car! Priceless. One thing I don't really understand is this whole Gestapo Homeland Security thing, and them blaming Bill for not operating CTU effectively, well wasn't McGill the President's own man? I know a lot of fans of posted about theories that they set McGill up, knowing he wouldn't report his card being stolen.......... Also what else does Jack have on his PDA? Every episode, he's downloading something...... Sweet, i had the Gardner thing pinned down. And that little laugh Logan did at the end there, really, really creepy. I mean, even more creepy than his big reveal.

'Your brother was one of the greatest men to ever occupy the office....' Hal Gardner

'Put yourself in my position. Could you just walk away?' Wayne Palmer

Kick ass episode, kick ass that it was Logan all along. This does raise some questions though:

1) Why talk Jack back onto the case? We won't know this until we know what Logan's ultimate agenda is. Was Logan doing this so he could come out on top of a crisis? Kind of a Wag The Dog deal? If so, it makes sense that Logan would want Jack there to stop it. But if Logan's agenda goes along different lines then this makes less sense.

2) Why stop Martha from going back to the funny farm? She has been a pain in the butt all day long. Again, depending on Logan's agenda, she could really screw things up. If he was worried about appearences, Logan could have explained it away that she needed her rest even though it turned out she was right.

3) If Logan really is a mastermind, why let the VP upstage him and make him look bad several times in the past? Is Logan setting him up to take the fall? If that is the case, it still looks really bad because Logan would have personally appointed his VP after taking over for President Heller. Unlike an elected VP, there would be a lot of political fallout if an appointed VP was exposed (falsely in this case but that is beside the point) as being dirty. Hard to see the upside of this move.

We'll get these answers along the way I suppose. If nothing else, the season just got more interesting!

Great episode! Saw it last night. Was convinced that it wasn't the vice president, it was big a set up to actually be him - all the suspicious looks during the chat with Palmer and Erin. Did not expect it to be Logan though.

One question - how did Henderson find out that Palmer was at the retreat? 1st time you watch the episode you imagine it's the Vice President who has let on. But if the VP is a good guy (if), then he and Erin were the only ones to see Palmer at the retreat - Logan didn't.

I don't think Martha is involved. Looking back, Logan does care for his wife - when she is in the Russian President's motorcade, he is genuinely (at least it looks like that) upset.
Bumping off the Russians was part of his plan I would guess. Probably just to kick off a war with them as I can't immediately think of another reason.

Me too. But I'm not sure it will hold up to such scrutiny. But nothing will be worse than watching the whole of Season 1 knowing that Nina is the mole. There are like 50 retarded things she did that she would have NEVER done if the writers had known all along that she was the mole. I did an email rant about it at the time where I listed all the screwups. Logan will come out better than this I'm sure. But I do wonder at what point the writers knew he was filthy?

There's NO WAY that Logan is the lone mastermind behind this whole thing!!! From when he took the oath of office last season when Air Force One was shot down, he's appeared to be like a deer in headlights. For him to have planned this whole thing seems sooooo unlikely that someone has to be in on it with him. Either that or he deserves an Emmy for fooling almost all of us.

I'm thinking that Mike or even the First Lady is in on it with him; she does appear to havge quite a leash around him.

Actually I think Logan has but I'm wondering if Mike Novick, James Heller, and the VP, had their own scheme going too. What if that group found out Logan used Marwan to kill President Keeler last season to gain power and came up with some scheme to hurt him politically, the plan with the nerve gas that Cummings, who was just a clueless patsy, confessed to Logan and Jack. Maybe Logan learned of their plan ahead of time and manipulated events so that he would come out of this very strong politically and perhaps before the season is over to have eliminated his enemies inside the administration.
