I think the reason Kellie doesn't annoy me is she's from the same neck of the woods as me so I'm around people like her all the time. What is sometimes mistaken as being dumb is mere ignorance. Also, my business partner lives in Albemarle (where Kellie harkens from) and a lot of people who live there have NEVER left the county. I swear to God. I talk to them about visiting LA and Chicago and they act like I've been to the moon. A lot of the people in that part of NC are just really naive. Everybody thinks its an act with Kellie but I see people just like her every day and there are no cameras around. What I think has happened with Kellie is that it was all real at first but then she (or her handler) saw it was really working to get her a fan base so now she's playing to that and it is getting a little irritating.

Having said all that, I would love to teach her to read and I'd never kick her out of bed. [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Isn't anyone going to comment on the performance by Shakira and Wyclef?

I thought that was awesome, actually. But I guess the reason no one has mentioned it is they're just here and gone. Bye bye. Bring on the next guest singer.

So I assume that those two refused to coach the Idol hopefuls? LOL

I missed the show (been very busy with work the past couple weeks), but I later got to see Kellie's performance. I don't really see how people are so annoyed with her.

Yeah, she decided to do a song that a lot of people don't like - but I'd rather see someone do a song that they like, and that really speaks of their musical taste than someone picking stuff just because it's popular, and the audience will enjoy it. Let the audience choose you because they like you, not because you know how to play for them. And, I guess I see more naive people than most, because I don't think it's an act. I think she's being herself.

And she's quite attractive.

My early prediction for tonight: Mandisa is going to do a different type of song to break out of her power ballad rut. Ace is going to stink up the place again and be in huge danger of going home. And Katherine is going to bounce back after almost getting voted out last week. She's a gonna to be a hot one tonight, dawg! Let's hear it from the dawg pound! Ruff Ruff Ruff!!!

By the way, my pre finalists picks were looking pretty good but this week might be the week they blow up:

6) Ace Young
5) Paris Bennet
4) Taylor Hicks
3) Mandisa
2) Kellie Pickler
1) Chris Daughtry

If Bucky goes this week, I would be right back on track, but I have a bad feeling that Ace is gonna suck again and I placed him way too far into the competition. >:-#

Okay, here we go.

First off: What is is Randy Jackson wearing?

Taylor: Seemed boring to me, and his voice sounded flat. [Shrug]

Mandisa: Not a good song choice, and it seemed like she was holding back a little bit, but she proved she can sing other stuff.

Elliot: Excellent. Definitely safe this week.

Paris: She definitely has a great voice. Not a fan of the song, but she sang it well. This is the kind of country songs people need to be singing - songs that show off your voice.

Ace: Better this week, but still sounded kind of flat and whiny at times.

Kellie: I like that they had Kellie talk about the calamari thing. Okay, why did she start in the audience? And is it just me, or could anyone understand a word she was saying? It sounded like she was mumbling. It was okay, but Reba McIntyre she is not.

Chris: First, he has balls for singing a currently popular song. Second, he made me forget that somebody else originally sang this song. Third, he proved he could do something other than rock. (Yes, I'm shamelessly a Chris fangirl.)

Katherine: Good song choice. She's safe this week. (But I hate when they walk into the audience.)

Bucky: Ugh, I hate the twangy parts. But he was good. (Wait, was this even a country song??)

I have to agree with one of Simon's comments - the songs lately have seemed awfully boring. I think everyone (with a few exceptions) is just trying to be way too safe.

I think Taylor, Ace, and Bucky are the best candidates for the bottom three. Although I would like Kellie to be thrown in there, I think she's safe again.

Let's hope this week is better.

Taylor - Off to a crappy start. He is just NOT into this song. It's like he's ill trying to belt out song he doesn't really like.

Why the hell did Simon get booed when Paula and Randy basically said the same thing? Turds.

Mandissa - She sounded sooo out of her element. You could tell she just had no confidence in the song she was singing. But all in all, not terrible. Just okay.

Elliot - Good performance. VERY safe song, no real risk taken. But I'm guessing that the other singers are going to f*ck up tonight, so par will be good enough to win tonight.

Paris - Here's goes another "you didn't make the song yours and you weren't nearly good as the original artist, so you fail". It was VERY karaoke, as Simon says.

Ace - God, I hate her. It's hard for me to be objective because her voice makes my nads shrivel. But, for his type of Justin Timberwannabe self, it wasn't that bad... until that LAST part where he totally released his inner vagina.

Kellie - Homefield advantage, but she didn't knock it out the park like she SHOULD have. I think it was just a boring song. I would have chosen "Something to Talk About" for her to sing. Something with a pair of balls in it.

Chris - WOW. HOLY ****. He sounds like he's been singing country all his life! UNBELIEVABLE! By far, the best thing we've heard all night! He sold the hell out of that song. Showed TONS of range and was REALLY into it. Kick ass!!!!!!!!

Kat - She needed to do something to prove she's better than last week's vote turnout. She did that tonight. She showed her range of pipes and sounded oh, so sexy. People need to throw down some votage tonight for the future Mrs. Rock Ledoux.

Bucky - I'm telling you people, the man just wants to go home. GRANT HIS WISH! Don't Vote! He REALLY needed to step it up and score one in his genre, but half the song his voice cracked in the wrong places and sounded like Ace the rest of the time.

****

Bottom three should be Taylor, Ace and Bucky. I really wouldn't be surprised if Taylor left tomorrow. I'll pray that it's Ace, but I think Taylor will bite the salami tomorrow.

Ryan needs to get over his man crush on Simon. That kind of behavior he shows towards Simon is the same kind I did when I was 15 after I asked the popular girl out and she rejected me.

Maybe because he says the EXACT same thing every time, every show. It's like someone taped a few versions of his critique then just replays it word for word, mixing the order up a little.

"Yo, yo, yo, check it out, check it out"
"It was just okay"
"I wasn't feeling it"
"I liked the falsetto"
"We've got a hot one tonight"
"I wasn't feeling the beginning, but by the end you pulled it together"

Shuffle & repeat.

Okay, you know what? I'm gonna have to fight the rest of you for Katherine because she is really smoking. She has never been more sexy than she was tonight. <kicks Kellie to the curb>

I agree with the Taylor comments but disagree on Elliot. I think Elliot is in trouble. It was a boring song and he sucked doing it, and he was early in the episode. That's a terrible combination.

My bottom three: Ace, Elliot, and Mandisa (too many weeks in a row just being okay) with Ace going home. But it wouldn't shock me if Taylor replaced one of these because he has failed now two straight weeks to really show his personality.

[Laugh] I kinda hope Ace stays because this stuff cracks me up every week. But I think this week's song is going to be the death knell. You can't live in the bottom three every week without really kicking it up a notch and he failed to do that.

Taylor - Boring. Where did his excitement go? It was bad enough for bottom three, but he won't be in there.
Mandisa - Did she lose her voice or something? Bottom three.
Elliot - Didn't listen to Kenny when he said to stop with the vibrato. Bottom three.
Paris - Good, one of the best of the night.
Ace - MUCH better than the past 6 weeks, but still a nasal singer. Bottom three.
Kellie - For this to have been country night, I expected much more of her.
Chris - Da Man. This year's winner, no doubt.
Kat - She's hot, yes. She was boring yet again with her song choice. Yawn, I'd rather watch her then listen to her...same with Kellie.
Bucky - I can't understand a word he just said, but people like him. Still not bottom three.

Going Home: Elliot. I don't think he has the fan base to keep him around.
Should Go Home: Ace. Not good.

Whoa whoa whoa Laridian. In your review, you said about Ace:
