There once was a great community... a council if you will of great men.. These men were the idea of strength and ideas. One man.. A man named Bane came from nothing to rise into one of the councils greatest assets.. All the while a man climbing the ranks with him known as maedo was taken under the wing of Bane.. Bane schooled him.. taught him all he could..
All the while a wise man behind the council watched on. B tried to tell Bane he shouldn't do what he was doing.. He even told him that what he was doing was wrong. But that wasn't enough.. Maedo grew to strong. He crumbled under the pressure and took a new name.. Rock.. Rock then let his ego become to strong turning to the wrong ideas.. Loosing the strength of the old ways and thus loosing his freindships.. and backing of the council..
What happened Rock?
Dude.. This is Bryan here.. not B Man.. not the creator.. You guys are my family here.. and tonite a part of my famliy got screwed up. I have tried to talk to ya and Derek on AIM.. Tried to keep things together but you just wont listen to me.. I dont know how this happened Im not behind the scenes anymore but Derek is our brother rock.. Hes not just another poster here.. Your going to kick him to the curb?

I don't care what happens but one thing I believe in is fighting is stupid. It gets us nowhere except for angry. We all come here because we have something in common. And when people have stuff in common they dont fight, they discuss things. I don't want this forum to be like any other forums where people complain and moan about others and it starts flame wars. It is ridiculous.

It has come to my attention that there has been some conflict between Derek and Chris. From reading the 'How Long thread' you can clearly see what's going on in The Arena. Chris: I realize that you have taken what measures you thought are the right ones, but IMO I think you clearly went too far... I realize that sometimes Derek jokes around alot, but thats what makes Derek, Derek. About the Forum Description.. WHO CARES what it says? It was meant to be funny in the first place, and as far as I recall.. nobody gave a flip. Some of the other forum descriptions are dumb IMO, but they stay as the desc. because the members of that forum like it. Also, Chris.. as I recall you LEFT active status at The Arena for quite some time.. and I know this could very well get me in some ****, but you gave the MODship to Derek because you knew that he'd run the forum without any problem. And he DID. And now you come back and strip him from the position after being unactive for so long? If YOU fellow ARENA members would like to see Derek come back as MOD, and HE SHOULD, then take a stand.. allow others to see how you feel. Don't let anything deter you from speaking up... Chris, with all respect.. (And I do have respect for you, as well as Derek) please give Derek the position back..

I didn't delete the 'How Long' thread because I want the Arenanites to see how that went down. I'll get down to it now, though.
Did I like doing that? Absolutely not. I am literally sick over it. Literally. Derek was, hopefully one day will again, my friend. That totally sucked. I was trying to give him some constructive criticism, to fix this place up, get it back on tack and it blew up.
Was this over the Title and Description? No. If you read the hread, there wa slots going on. Our overall participation was sinking like the Titanic and the diection we've been going was heading down the drain. Like owners fie head coaches for a new start... that's what has happened here. The search will begin for a new head coach. That's all.
What's going to happen now? Damage control. I know Reality and Stallion, as well as B, have raised concern, as well they should. Most likely, I won't stay Moderator long. Within a few weeks, after I get things back to order, make this place a WRESTLING FORUM again and this smoke clears, I'll give the forum to someone that can run it properly. I have no desire to be Triple H and keep this place for myself. I just want it's integrity to rise again.
I know this is a shock, but to a lot of you, not really, as you have been PMing and IMing me about this for months. And like I said, its not just the Arena either. There are other things non-Arena that led to this and it's being taken care of.
One thing I promise you, you will all have the forum YOU deserve and the Moderator that will run this place to the top again.

ya know how I feel about this rock.. I dont need to say much more than what I said to you and Bane on Aim... but this is the wrong way to go about things rock..

shouldn't this have been done internally, and then announced his termination of his modship and why? as opposed to making it public? Because though I don't know all the details (and perhaps it's none of my bussiness) , I could see yelling at him, but I still don't see where it warrented all this.

It's a valid question. That came about poorly. Actually, thee's been other things said in private before any of this. You just saw the end result. As I've said, there are more issues than The Arena, but that is not for this forum. What you saw was for this forum only. I will say this: There are MANY people that will rest easier tonight. I won't be one of them, but there it is.
I didn't like how any of this went down, but we will move onward and upward.

I like both of you guys and I feel this whole thing is rather absurd. We are all family here. Weither it's from a wrestling stand point or from the nAw version of it; this was the hang out for everyone. Crazy taglines and titles aside. Personally, I don't think anything needs to be cleaned up or changed around here. Fix your title and make a description so we can get back to the reason we all post here...each other. We make this place fun, not the Forum's little bells and whistles. Can you two resolve your conflicts? There is no reason for something so meaningless to come between friends. If you want a new Mod name one. If you want to keep the office, Rock, or just give it back to Bane, that's cool too. Let's just put this behind us and leave it as water under the brige...

Rama, you're 200% correct. Things will resolve themselves. I'm not keeping the 'office' myself, only temperorily. I'd say within two weeks, we'll have a new mod.
Let me reiterate. This has a lot to do with The Arena, but not all of it. If it wasn't today, if it wasn't this forum, it woulda been another day at another forum. Those that pay attention to the Feedback Forum know more about this.
But I'm not gonna throw him under the bus anymore. Time to move onward.
Speaking of which, I'm off to sleep. I'll be up in a few hours and will address any concerns you may have.

Man, Orton losing the title to HHH, Gangrel and Viscera back, Noble fired, all this in the Arena, and I missed it all! I hope everyone sorts out their problems.

I cannot say that I blame Bane for what was referred to as dwindling numbers in Arena traffic.
Who do I blame? Simple - WWE.
It's not so much Bane as a lackluster Mod as it is WWE putting out an often-times lackluster product that sometimes goes so far as to turn fans off of the product altogether & drive them to stop watching the show.
You would know, Rock - you quit watching Raw out of disgust at one point.
When people aren't watching the shows, they would tend not to discuss them. Or visit forums about them.
Ultimately, one will tend not to visit a forum whose subject matter is uninteresting to them, right? Another example - Smackdown. In the past, it has sucked some major ass. In fact, so much so that nobody even made a thread for it. Undoubtedly, that contributed to a lack of traffic, posting, and general interest in the forum. Hell, Unforgiven didn't even get its own thread until the morning of the PPV itself because it was so uninspired & had no noteworthy build-up whatsoever. You know that's out of the ordinary.
But again, this is WWE's fault.
Tank said (and you can look it up someplace, one of the abckstage threads for nAw) & several Arena mainstays agreed (it'll be right there along w/ Tanks post) that we could even give credit to WWE's less-than-interesting main angles, which resulted in a lack of discussion within the Arena & detracted visitors, as one of the huge reasons for nAw's recent slump during the late spring/early summer.
Is it getting better? I don't know. If you consider the influx of new threads recently. If you consider the excitement regarding Smackdown, of all shows, this week. Hell, despite the Arena being at the bottom of the list regarding % of visitors actually being there, 3 of our threads were featured in the top 15 threads @ Nightly last night when there was a ton of people @ the site. One of those was among the top 4 % in terms of how many visitors had viewed a particular page. nAw has recently been able to recruit many new members. Not aliases, but there are 4 new members on the way - one of which is participating as we speak. WWE continues its improvement & on that same token, we continue to further discuss WWE.
I don't know if an upward trend will continue, and I don't know who the Mod is going to be. But whatever happens, or has happend, is not solely on Bane IMO. Were some people turned off by his posts or his way of doing things? Well, this would be the first I've heard of that. It's never been expressed openly in any Arena threads, and I would know - I visit this forum probably more than anyone else here @ Nightly. Could I have missed it? Sure, why not? But I still find it odd that this came to pass without there being just a few hints of wide-spread or even a few dots here & there being openly expressed for all to see. Or to Bane himself, seeing as he was the Mod.
I'n not taking sides, but seriously - I do not blame Bane.

Can't say I particularly care about Bane but...Rock's explanation is more self-serving than what I'm reading in that other thread (even if it's only a part of the story).
Rock purposely stirred up a controversy. Bane overreacted. Rock threatened him. Bane melted down. No matter what prologue there was to it, it was Rock who came into that thread looking for trouble.
Frankly, both of you should be reprimanded for the behavior in that thread, but you, Rock, were most definitely the instigator.
Fire the guy if you need to, but do me a favor and don't take the moral high ground after picking a fight with him. I just can't explain how obnoxious that is.

Rock, I have tons of respect for you, but I feel you handeled this ENTIRELY the wrong way.
First, if the Arena title and description bothered you then you should have mentioned it to Bane before some one brought it up publicly. This all could have been avoided. I even made a mock AIM conversation between you guys to show how easy this could have been handeled:

And saying that the arena posters need to know whats going on, well, I think that's a bit off. If an employer has a problem with an employee, they discus it in private, not in front of the entire office. If it was to punish/embarass Bane for bad moderating, then wouldn't that fall under Cruel & Unusual? Maybe I'm just taking this to deep..
I don't know what exactly makes a good or bad moderator, so if stripping Bane of his title (no pun intended) was because he was a bad mod, then well

As none of you are realizing, and apparently, none of you REALLY read the 'How Long' thread, this was NOT the only reason Bane was let go. There are multiple reasons for the dismissal, this just triggered it.
And you were correct that this should have been done in private, but it just didn't happen that way. It was not designed to be cruel or intneional. Hell, it wasn't even designed, it just happened. And I have mentioned the desctiption to him in private many times over the past year. Many things were mentioned. Nothing was ever changed. Behavior, in certain places, were never changed.
